Gov Adeleke Administration: APC, PDP Disagree Over ‘Management’ Of Osun Public Funds

Osun state APC and the state PDP on Tuesday disagreed over the management of public funds in the state since Governor Ademola Adeleke became the Chief Executive ten months ago.
The state APC has accused Governor Ademola Adeleke of mishandling the finances of the state to the extent that his administration ‘is finding it extremely difficult to execute some of the statutory functions of the government’.
The party has also alleged that the Adeleke administration has withheld the money made available to the state by the Federal Government sequel to the removal of petrol subsidy and its concomitant hardships.
Sooko Tajudeen Lawal, who is the state APC Chairman, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi, alleged that the governor currently runs from pillar to post in order to find a solution to the state’s current financial quagmire without luck after running the state aground.

APC also alleged that the Adeleke administration squandered the N14 billion it had inherited from the Oyetola administration by spending such on frivolous and unexplainable projects.
‘What went wrong with Governor Adeleke who promised during the governorship campaign that he was having foreign currencies in abundance?
Could it be that Adeleke’s calendar is quite different from the one in the public domain which indicates that he has exhausted 10 months of his statutory 48 months lifeline?
In all ramifications, the Adeleke administration is a monumental failure being run by a rudderless and visionless leader motivated only by the glamour and peck of office of the governor.
If Adeleke does not lack empathy, there is no reason under the sun why he should still be keeping the Federal Government’s N2 billion fuel subsidy removal palliative for two months now while people of other states who are lucky to have caring governments have started to benefit from the largesse.
Could it be that Adeleke and his cronies have squandered the N2 billion Federal Government fuel subsidy removal palliative or they are earnestly waiting to line their pockets with the accrued interest in the bank?
It is saddening that when some states have been complementing the efforts of the Federal Government by providing their own palliatives for their people, Adeleke has chosen to hoard the one for the people of Osun state for the reasons which could only be known to him and his co-travelers’ he said.
The state APC has also asked Governor Adeleke to explain without further delay why his administration can allegedly no longer remit deductions from the workers’ salaries to appropriate places as and when due and why remittances of check-off dues to the labour unions and co-operative societies are in arrears?
‘Why have the offices of the newly-created ministries not taken off and why the commissioners and the Special Advisers attached to these ministries are still operating from their staff quarters?
Members of the public also deserve the right to know why all the heads and sub-heads in the 2023 budget have fully been exhausted on frivolous overhead charges’ the statement added.
In separate statement, Chief Sunday Bisi, who is the state PDP Chairman, however asserted that Governor Adeleke had since taking office sustainably managed economy of the state and put public funds. to good use

‘A governor, who inherited over N500 billion debt and is still paying salaries, pension debt and delivering on major projects cannot be accused of running the state aground. Anybody making such allegations is likely financially illiterate.
The Osun state that was inherited from the APC government was financially wrecked. Yet, Governor Adeleke manages to pay monthly salaries without default till date. He has paid over N17 billion naira from inherited N56 billion naira debt. He is also paying half salary arrears instalmentally.
The governor has constructed over 50 kilometers of roads. Several bridges and channelization projects are completed. Free medical surgeries are being held with over 50, 000 as beneficiaries.
Osun’s financial management model is superbly sound. All over the country, people are asking how Governor Adeleke is so smartly governing despite the financial liabilities. The record of the administration in financial prudence is astounding.
For us in PDP, we believe APC leadership is suffering from undiagnosed political ailment that has destroyed its soul. It is reprehensible for a party that plunged the state into avoidable debt cumulatively close to N100 billion to accuse the current administration of misdemeanor’ he said.
The state PDP Chairman also noted that Governor Adeleke ‘is more concerned about stabilizing the ship of the state’ having rejected the idea of probing those who plunged the state into current debt in order to focus on salvaging the state finance and economy.
He warned the state APC to desist from what he described as ‘its lies’ so as not to force the PDP government to rethink its decision not to revisit the past, adding that ‘looters of yesterday risk being unmasked to face the consequences of their maladministration’-Team@orientactualmags.com
