Gov Adeleke Emphasizes Need To Strengthen Interstate Cooperation During Meeting With Top Police Officers In Osogbo
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on Thursday presided over a marathon meeting in Osogbo, the state capital, which had top police officers in attendance. He has emphasized the need to strengthen interstate cooperation in order to stem cross -border crimes.
Mr. Olawale Rasheed, who is Governor Adeleke’s spokesman, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the meeting was attended by the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone 11, Mr Akande Sikiru and Commissioners of Police in Oyo and Osun states .
The meeting, he added, lasted for more than five hours with Governor Adeleke citing interstate crimes as a major issue demanding urgent attention.
While commending the proactive actions of the police and other security agencies, the governor noted that getting intelligence sharing strengthened, and firming up of operational relationship among the state commands will stop criminals in their track before launching cross- border raids.
Governor Adeleke ,who noted that Osun is a peaceful state with a strongly responsive security apparatus ,said the recent interstate raids by armed robbers demand review of strategies, expressing happiness that the best approach to adopt in addressing the challenge is to have all relevant operational Commanders in the same room.
‘I am elated to have all of you here led by the police boss in this zone. Recent security breaches are traced to interstate raids by criminals. So, it is a good development that we have all the relevant officers here. Let us strengthen collaboration and partnership. Osun must remain as peaceful as ever’ he said.
Responding, AIG Sikiru ,who was full of praises for the Adeleke administration for ensuring good governance and introducing security strategies, assured the governor that the police are re-strategizing to maintain the record of peaceful existence in Osun state.
‘Your Excellency, we are more than ready to sustain peace in Osun state. You have a team of dynamic and gallant officers who are already deploying technology- driven approach in law enforcement and prevention of crimes in Osun state.
Permit me to express our appreciation for the logistic support your administration is providing for our operations. We know you will do more for us as we also respond proactively to security needs of the state’ he said.
