Gov Adeleke Inaugurates ‘Farmers’ House’, Distributes Farm Inputs To Rice Farmers In Osogbo…We’re Supporting His Re-election Bid Coz He’s A ‘Talk And Do’ Leader-Osun Farmers
Over 300 farmers received free paddy rice seeds from Osun State government in Osogbo on Thursday with Governor Ademola Adeleke noting that this has shown his administration’s commitment to providing ‘necessary support’ for farmers and ensuring food security in the State of the Living Spring.

Speaking during the inauguration of the newly completed ‘Farmers’ House’ in Osogbo, Governor Ademola Adeleke noted that the event was more than the inauguration of a building but rather a testament to the unwavering commitment of his administration to food security and a product of a focused plan of action.
‘The inauguration of this building for the All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) is more than official opening of a structure but a testament to our government’s commitment to farmers and food security. It pleases me to inform you that over 300 rice farmers will go home today with free paddy rice seeds to boost production of rice in our state’ he said.
Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Otunba ‘Tola Faseru noted that the ‘Farmers’ House’ building project which had its foundation stone laid during the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration has been taken to completion by Governor Ademola Adeleke in less than three years adding that this is ‘commendable’.

He listed measures taken by the Governor Ademola Adeleke administration to ensure food security in the state to include distribution of farm inputs and provision of cash assistance to farmers.
‘Towards the end of year 2024, the State Government, through the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security unveiled 31 brand new tractors and distributed to the nine (9) Federal constituencies after been tracked for security and monitoring purposes for the use of farmers across the state. The Ministry also distributed free six thousand (6,000) packs of Imole vegetable seedlings, eighty thousand (8,000) litres of herbicides, eight thousand (8,000) cassava cuttings, eighty thousand (80,000) cashew seedlings and fertilizers to farmers across the state coupled with many other laudable projects carried out by the Osun State COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (OS-CARES).
In the area of empowerment, the Ministry also trained Youths, Women and People with Disabilities in pig production and gave them piglets, working tools, feeds and stipends to kick start their businesses. In addition, poultry farmers through the Osun Broilers Out-grower Production Scheme (OBOPS) were empowered to the tune of eight million and six hundred thousand naira (N8.6 million) each. The Ministry embarked on public sensitization efforts on the benefits of backyard farming.
Furthermore, this year, the state Government has raised and sold more than two hundred thousand (200,000) improved Cocoa seedlings and thirty thousand (30,000) improved oil-palm seedlings to farmers at subsidized rate.
We also resuscitated Agric-In-School Programme, embarked on public sensitization efforts on the benefits of backyard farming/homestead garden and constructed Central abattoirs in Iwo, Oriade and Irepodun Local Governments. Public health is maintained by ensuring that slaughtered cattle undergo meat inspection daily. Also, vaccination against different animal diseases like Anthrax in Cattle. Herders and Farmers crises are controlled and affected farmers who are victims of illegal grazing are getting justice. This has made Osun State get recognized as the most peaceful state in the country with regard to farmland protection and peaceful co-existence among Farmers and Herders.
Your Excellency, we have carefully selected ten (10) Rice farmers from each Local Government which aggregated to three hundred (300) farmers across the state. These farmers will be empowered with paddy rice seeds, herbicides and fertilizers. This intervention by the Government is to boost food production and ensure food sufficiency’ he said.
Leader of All Farmers Association of Nigeria (AFAN) in Osun State, Dr David Ogunsade, who also noted that the building project began during the Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration, added that the governor had visited the building project site and promised that the next time he would be visiting he would be there to inaugurate the building project hence the affirmation that he is a ‘talk and do’ governor.
He also commended the governor for distributing tractors and other farm inputs to farmers while noting that all the farmers in the state would like the ‘good governance’ to continue hence the declaration of support for his re-election bid.
Alhaji Sulaiman Araokanmi also spoke in the same vein citing his questions and the requests he made during the first ‘Ipade Imole’ programme organized by the Adeleke administration and the subsequent immediate actions that were taken to ‘activate’ the promises made by the governor.
He also called Governor Ademola Adeleke ‘talk and do’ leader.
Ayeni Olanrewju Mathew, who spoke on behalf of rice farmers in the state, acknowledged and appreciated the immeasurable support received from the state government while commending Governor Adeleke for keeping his word.

Ayeni and Araokanmi also declared support for the governor’s re-election bid on behalf of farmers in the state.
