Gov Adeleke Orders Emergency Repair Of Iwo-Osogbo Road Ahead Of Full Reconstruction

As preparation heightens for the full reconstruction of Iwo-Osogbo road, Governor Ademola Adeleke has ordered immediate emergency repair of bad portions of the road in question to ease the burden of motorists.

The governor gave the directive to the Ministry of Works following increasing deterioration of the central region of the road amidst the current rainy season.

While the procurement process for the reconstruction of the road is near completion, the governor has ordered the ministry to take remedial action to restore seamless mobility along the critical road artery.

The governor had gotten reports that some segments of the road are almost divided into two with multiple gullies which has made the road connecting five local governments to the state capital almost impassable.

Following the directive of the governor, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Works deployed a team of engineers to assess the road to draw a plan of action for emergency repair of the worst areas of the road.

The governor’s directive will be carried out starting from next Tuesday, the Ministry said.

 Governor Adeleke’s  Spokesperson, Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday that the Chief Executive of the state in his message to the five local governments affected by the dilapidated road assured them that his administration has finalized a plan to fast-track the completion of the project by breaking the existing contract into three and getting three companies, including the previous contractor to reconstruct the road with a completion date of less than a year.

Recall that the road project was awarded at the twilight of the Gboyega Oyetola administration with the contractor delivering a portion equivalent to the released fund, the remaining portion is now set for completion.

‘We are at the final stage of the procurement process. The contractors will soon be mobilized to site. We are slow because we have a duty to strictly comply with due process and the procurement laws.

Our people in Iwo, Ayedire, Olaoluwa, Ejigbo, Egbedore and Ede local governments should be rest assured that our administration will break the jinx and complete the reconstruction of the road.
