Gov Adeleke, Osun APC Disagree Over Delay In Payment Of March Salary

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state and the state APC have disagreed over reasons for the delay in the payment of salary to civil servants in the state for the month of March 2023.
The acting state APC Chairman, Sooko Tajudeen Lawal in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday by the party’s Director of Media and Information, Chief Kola Olabisi criticized the Ademola Adeleke administration for failing to ensure prompt payment of salary to workers in the state for the month of March 2023.
APC also described the reasons given for the delay in the payment of the March salary as flimsy, untenable, sleazy and skanky ‘which is skillfully fabricated by the governor and his co-travellers to deceive the unsuspecting civil servants in the state’.
The governor, APC added, has failed in one of his campaign promises , having promised to ensure payment of salary latest on the 26th of every month.
‘A gentleman’s word is his bond. It would be recalled that Adeleke promised heaven and earth during the governorship campaigns that he would never exceed 26th of the month before he pays the workers.
The reality on the ground now is that Adeleke has blown on frivolities all the funds that he inherited from his predecessor and those that accrued to his government to the extent that he cannot pay the salaries of workers again as and when due.
Adeleke is stylishly awaiting March federal allocation from Abuja before he could accomplish his governmental obligations with regard to the payment of the workers’ salaries’ the statement said.
APC also queried the nexus between the payment of promotion arrears of staff and payment of the staff salaries which is a statutory monthly obligation of any government?
‘Adeleke should give kudos to Oyetola for his relentlessness in the prompt payment of full salary to the state workers uninterruptedly for four solid years as and when due even before the receipt of the Federal Allocation’ the party added .
Governor Ademola Adeleke in a statement issued by his spokesman, Mr Olawale Rasheed had explained that ongoing computation of promotion arrears of civil servants, who were promoted four years ago without a pay rise, caused the delay.
‘The compilation of what is due to each promoted officer is followed with due diligence to ensure that there is no error in the eventual payment.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has directed that compilation, analysis and computation of the promotion arrears should be completed and paid to the affected civil servants. This payment, His Excellency insisted must be made alongside the March salary.
Osun state Government therefore wishes to reassure Osun workers that the payment of March salary will come with payment of promotion arrears, hence the delay for a few days.
The March salary alongside the promotion arrears of promoted civil servants will be ready next week’ the statement concluded -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
