Gov Adeleke Speaks On Borehole Projects, N2b Petrol Subsidy Support Fund, Pension Debt, Others At Inaugural Ipade Imole Programme…He Has Made Groundbreaking Changes -Osun PDP

Governor Ademola Adeleke presided over the maiden edition of a programme called ‘Ipade Imole’, an interactive discussion with Osun state indigenes at home and in the Diaspora on Thursday.

It served as a platform for the governor to answer questions bordering on governance of the state and to also clarify perceived knotty issues.

While apologizing to Osun state citizens for the delay in holding the programme, the governor has also promised that it will be held on ‘a regular basis’.

‘ I apologize to our people for the delay in hosting this event. We are now finally here. Be assured that we will henceforth be meeting regularly on a quarterly basis’ he said.

The governor has also talked tough   on the pervasive communal violence involving Ifon and Ilobu towns while warning that those instigating violence would be punished.

‘I want to start with a strong warning to the warring factions in the Ifon-Ilobu communal crisis. I have directed the deployment of a joint peace keeping force to include military personnel. The force has the mandate to deal with those fomenting conflict in both communities.

I call on leaders of both communities to call their people to order. The joint task force will descend heavily on those agents of violence. Men of goodwill should rise up. A military deployment will punish both communities for failing to uphold peaceful negotiations and settlement’ he said.

Governor Adeleke also  explained  that his  administration came up with the idea of constructing  332 boreholes in  the 332 political wards  in the state as an intervention measure.

‘Each borehole costs one million, five hundred thousand naira. The boreholes are functioning and serving the immediate water needs of our people’ he submitted while also commenting on the  N2 billion petrol subsidy support fund that was made available to the state by the Federal Government.

‘Our government has resolved to spend the palliative fund on three projects and programmes namely additional buses to ease transportation cost, rehabilitation of health centres and the purchase of food items. Procurement order has been placed in line with due process’ he added.

The governor also asserted that  his  administration has widened the coverage of the payment of pension debt while the contributory pensioners are now according to him  enjoying greater attention .

He also disclosed that the white papers on disputed kingship are ready for presentation and approval of the State Executive Council.

‘We assure the people of Ikirun, Iree, Igbajo and other affected towns that the approved white papers will soon be released and gazetted’ the governor said.

‘I have directed the Ministry of Education to conduct a needs assessment as a basis for recruitment and filling of vacancies in schools. I believe the report will soon be ready. Our government is also committed to implementing the report of the Education Summit.

Our administration has also  commenced the implementation of imole solar project to light up the capital city. The process is ongoing.

Our people should be rest assured that this administration has not and will not borrow to fund ongoing infrastructure upgrades. From bridges to dualisation of existing roads among other infrastructures, we are pursuing value for money and public private partnership. Our financial plan is sustainable.

We  have also ensured state character in our appointments and distribution of projects. All local governments and districts are factored into government plans and agenda while demonstrating strong faith by ensuring the completion of many abandoned projects. I also retained many contractors inherited from previous governments. I am the governor for all Osun people, not a segment’ he added.

Governor Adeleke also  disclosed that his administration will among other things build flyover bridges in Osogbo, and construct new boreholes in the 332 wards.

‘Let me also give you a peep into my plan for the future. Our people should expect the following new projects :

Dualisation of roads at two per senatorial districts;  Flyover bridges in Osogbo and some other towns;

Street lights for newly constructed roads; Second stream of 332 boreholes across the wards;

Commencement of Imole transport service; and Imole Housing Estate at 500 units per federal constituency’ he said.

Osun state PDP has commended the governor for holding the Ipade  Imole programme which has given him the opportunity to inform the citizens of the steps taken towards the delivery of dividends of democracy.

The state Chairman , Chief Sunday Bisi in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com asserted that  ‘Ìpàdé Ìmólè goes beyond a mere report. It symbolizes a departure from the past, where citizens were left uninformed and disconnected from the workings of the government’.

‘It’s worth noting that the last time an accountability programme where citizens could listen and watch during the day, was in effect held by a PDP governor during the Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola administration through the ‘Gbagede Oro’  initiative.

The reintroduction of such a programme by Governor Adeleke renews faith in participatory governance, empowering citizens to make informed judgments about the government’s performance and contribution to their lives.

In a state where transparency and accountability have long been in demand, Osun state is now witnessing a groundbreaking change with the introduction of the ‘Ìpàdé Ìmólè’.

For the first time in five years, Osun state citizens are being presented with a comprehensive report on the state’s progress and the government’s stewardship.

The ‘Ìpàdé Ìmólè’ project embodies Governor Adeleke’s commitment to openness and accountability, striving to bridge the gap between the government and the people.

Governor Adeleke’s decision to reintroduce this initiative showcases his understanding of the vital role citizens play in the democratic process.

By providing regular updates and transparent reports on the state’s affairs, he is fostering a sense of trust and participation among the people, which will ensure a robust democracy.

The ‘Ìpàdé Ìmólè’ goes beyond a mere report. It symbolizes a departure from the past, where citizens were left uninformed and disconnected from the workings of the government.

This initiative invites citizens to hold their government accountable, fostering an atmosphere of engagement and cooperation that can drive development and progress.

Transparency has always been a cornerstone of good governance, and Governor Adeleke’s approach underscores this principle.

This can be further validated by the recent release of the BudgiT, ranking Osun State as the third most transparent state, lends credibility to Governor Adeleke’s dedication to transparency and good governance.

The state’s improved transparency not only boosts confidence among the populace but also sets a positive precedent for other states to follow.

By embracing openness and establishing a platform for regular updates, he has  set a new standard for governance, one that places the interests and well-being of the citizens at the forefront.

This initiative serves as a stark contrast to the previous twelve years under the APC administration. During that period, the state was often run with a shroud of secrecy, and the government seemed disconnected from the concerns and needs of the populace.

The lack of transparency and openness stifled the ability of the people to hold the government accountable, hindering the state’s progress and development.

As Ìpàdé Ìmólè continues, it is imperative for the citizens to actively engage with the reports, provide constructive feedback, and participate in shaping the future of Osun state.

The success of this venture that centers on the collaboration and partnership between the government and its people, will ultimately lead to a more accountable, responsible, and prosperous Osun state for all’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com
