Gov. Bagudu Inaugurates  Housing  Project  In Birni Kebbi

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state on Friday inaugurated a housing project in Birni Kebbi, the state capital.

The project comprising 500 housing units was done as part of the efforts to bridge housing deficit in the state.

The housing units were built by the Bagudu administration in collaboration  with a private firm, Family Homes Funds Ltd under a public–private partnership arrangement.

Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yahaya Sarki in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com said the governor noted at the event that the State Government has fully provided all the needed infrastructure in the estate.

More than 1000 plots have according to him  been allocated to different beneficiaries  while assuring that the incoming administration that would be headed by Dr Nasiru Idris, Kauran Gwandu, would sustain the laudable project.

‘Government is a continuous process, government is work in progress.

We are still building on the foundation laid by the former Governor of the state, Alhaji Sa’idu Nasamu Dakingari .

We are also being complemented by the various efforts of the Federal Government as it is also currently building a housing estate.

Therefore, more will be done under the leadership of Kauran Gwandu and he will provide more houses for the citizens of the state’ he said.

Bagudu also said the event could not have come at a better time than now when the Governor-elect and his Deputy are about to be  sworn-in.

He added that the housing units would be distributed to the intended beneficiaries, while saying, ‘the incoming administration will do more’.

Bagudu also said the housing units would add to the aesthetics of the state capital, commending all the stakeholders for working diligently to realize the project.

The State Commissioner for Lands, Alhaji Mamuda Warah, said the  kind gesture was part of the efforts of the state government to provide relief to the citizens through the provision of affordable housing.

Warah added that the houses would be sold to the civil servants and other deserving applicants on a owner-occupier basis and outright purchase.

He stated that 70 per cent of the houses which is 350 would be sold to the civil servants on a owner-occupier basis, with a payment period of fifteen years while 30 per cent  which is 150 houses would be sold to members of the public on outright purchase, with an initial payment of 50 per cent, while the balance would be paid in two years.

Warah said that each of the three-bedroom houses will be made available at N7 million, while each of the two-bedroom houses will be N6 million.

He said that a N3.5 billion loan was secured for the project, while infrastructure like roads, water, electricity, recreational facilities, school, clinic and police post, among others, have  been provided there.

Warah also stated that funds for the payment of contractors for the completion of the remaining houses had since  been approved by Bagudu.

He disclosed  that the process for the construction of additional 400 housing units has reached an advanced stage with the same form and under PPP.

He commended Bagudu for his uncommon commitment to the success of the project, and lauded Kauran Gwandu for his keen interest in the masses.

Highlights of the event include presentation of certificates to some beneficiaries by the governor and the Governor – elect, Dr Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu.
