The governor also lauded teachers in the state  especially the  primary school teachers  describing  them as cradle of education.

Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com   that the governor said  this on  Thursday during his visit to Magajin Rafin Model Primary School , Birnin Kebbi to monitor the ongoing workshop for primary school teachers under the ‘Teaching at the Right Level, TaRL’.

The governor was  glad that  teachers in the state had shown dedication and continued to make  efforts to impart sound knowledge to pupils saying  his administration has accorded importance to education.

Governor  Abubakar Atiku Bagudu also expressed happiness that Kebbi state has taken the first position when it comes to returning out of school children  to classroom under the Better Education Service Delivery for All, BESDA.

Bagudu, who is the Chairman of APC Progressives Governors’ Forum, said the World Bank has commended the performance of the State under the programme.

More than fifteen thousand facilitators have  according to him been engaged by the government to teach at Qur’anic and Almajiri Schools in order to integrate such schools into the formal education system.

In addition, five thousand, five hundred and forty three heads of almajiri schools would also receive monthly stipend of five thousand naira each.

He further said the State Universal Basic Education Board, SUBEB, has disbursed two hundred thousand naira each to two thousand, two hundred and sixty one schools for upkeep.

The country manager of TaRL, Miss Inyang Umoren appreciated the governor for promoting the development of education in Kebbi state, which  has made it possible to organize the workshop through SUBEB.

The participants at the workshop told the Governor that the training has impacted their methodology of teaching positively.

Bagudu was also the special guest at the programme organized by the Nigerian Economic Students Association, NESA at the Federal University, Birnin Kebbi later in the day.

Dr. Abubakar Umar Muhammad, Founder Star up, Sokoto state, delivered  a keynote speech  on ‘Entrepreneurship as remedy to Nigeria’s Unemployment’, while Amina Muhammad spoke on ‘Importance of Sex Education and Gender- Based Violence, GBV’.

Mallama Amina Muhammad advised rape victims to summon the courage to speak out  and discard the notion of stigma.

She urged victims not to keep silent,  noting that keeping silent has been responsible for the rise in rape cases.

Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu described the two topics  as apt, timely and important, which are being discussed freely among the students.

He said already, the law against gender- based violence has come into effect in Kebbi state through the current administration, assuring that the government would continue to promote a decent society.

The governor urged all stakeholders to make the Federal University Birnin Kebbi the most student-friendly institution in Nigeria- Team@orientactualmags.com
