Gov Fubara Announces Decision To Leave PDP For APC

Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has announced his decision to leave the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). 

It is a case of ‘if you can’t beat them, join them’.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governor announced this decision during the ‘stakeholder meeting’ held at the Government House, Port Harcourt, on Tuesday.

He noted that he has done this in the interest of Rivers State people while adding that he has gotten the go-ahead from President Bola Tinubu.

‘We can’t support President (Tinubu) if we don’t fully identify with him, not just backyard support. Our decision this evening is that we are moving to the APC’ he said.

Recall that for the second time in two years, Speaker Martin Amaewhule and fifteen other members of the state House of Assembly, had announced their decision to leave PDP for APC last week.

Recall also that the Speaker and 27 others had on December 11, 2023, announced decision to leave PDP for APC and it was a development that had signaled and made it public that a frosty relationship was existing between the legislature and the executive.

Governor Siminalayi Fubara and all elected public officials in the state were later suspended following the declaration of emergency rule by the president and this lasted for 6 months.
