Gov Idris Flags Off Livestock Vaccination Exercise In Birni Kebbi… Targets 10 million Cattle, Sheep , Goats
The governor of Kebbi state , Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, who is also the Kauran Gwandu , has flagged off livestock vaccination exercise in the state.
The governor’s media aide, Mr. Yahaya Sarki in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com listed the diseases the animals would be vaccinated against to include contagious Bovine Pleuron Pneumonia, CBPP, Pest des Petit Ruminant, PPR, (Diarrhea of small ruminants), and Newcastle Disease, NCD.
The statement added that the programme was held at Hutawa Fulani settlement near Birnin Kebbi on Saturday, June 24, 2023, while noting that the state government would be targeting about 10 million cattle, sheep and goats for vaccination against diseases this year.

Permanent Secretary, Kebbi state Ministry of Animal Health Husbandry and Fisheries, who spoke on behalf of the SSG, noted that the exercise would be carried out in collaboration with the Federal Department of Veterinary and Pest Control Services.
He disclosed that the Federal Government had though already made vaccines for the programme available to all states of the federation, it would only cover twenty-five percent of animals in Kebbi state due to the high number of livestock in the state.
The Permanent Secretary said Kebbi state has been blessed with about ten million livestock consisting of cattle, goats and sheep.
‘ This state has been blessed with three million herds of cattle, three million, three hundred and fifty-seven thousand herds of goat and three million, one hundred and fifteen thousand herds of sheep’ he said.
Dr. Ambursa explained that the government hopes to achieve between seventy and eighty percent vaccination coverage of livestock this year in the state.
He disclosed that the State ministry of Animal health has evolved appropriate strategies to vaccinate animals of nomads without permanent settlement while urging the Fulani community to embrace the programme and cooperate with veterinary health workers to ensure that their animals remain healthy.
The Ardo of Hutawa, Dikko Anguwar Gagga, Aliyu Hakimin Gubuji, the Community leader of the Fulani settlement, thanked Governor Nasir Idris for placing premium on livestock development and improving animal health in the state.
