Gov Idris Inaugurates Newly Constructed Jumu’at Mosque In Birnin Kebbi
Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, on Friday inaugurated the newly constructed Sheikh Abdullahi Fodio Jumu’at Mosque in Badariya, Birnin Kebbi.
The mosque was built by Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu, who is Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Bagudu’s younger brother.
Alhaji Atiku Abubakar Bagudu is the immediate past governor of Kebbi State and the current Minister of Budget and Economic Planning.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Governor Nasir Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the mosque has been handed over to the Jama’atu Izalatil Bid’a Wa’iqamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS), Kebbi State chapter.
Representing the governor at the inauguration ceremony, the Deputy Governor, Alhaji Umar Abubakar Tafida commended Alhaji Ibrahim Bagudu for his philanthropy, describing it as a noble act worthy of emulation.
He noted that the Kebbi State Government has constructed and renovated over 100 Jumu’at mosques across the state, and encouraged members of the Muslim Ummah to follow Bagudu’s example by investing in both Islamic and western educational institutions for societal development.
In his remarks, JIBWIS National Chairman, Sheikh Abdullahi Bala-Lau, advised Islamic clerics not to politicize their sermons, urging them to focus on prayers, teaching, and the propagation of Islamic values.
He also presented Malam Munzir Abbas-Jega, a PhD holder, as the newly appointed Imam of the mosque, noting that he was selected based on merit.
Bala-Lau called on the congregation to respect the Imam regardless of his age and urged the new Imam to fear Allah in the discharge of his duties.
Earlier, two- Rakaat congregational prayer was performed at the mosque which was attended by a large number of Muslims.
Dignitaries at the event include Speaker of Kebbi State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman, member representing Suru/Bagudo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Bello Ka’oje and the state APC Chairman, Abubakar Kana Zuru. Others include, Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Garba Umar Dutsinmari and Commissioner for Finance, Hon.
