Gov Idris Inaugurates Newly Renovated Argungu General Hospital, Fires CMD

The governor of Kebbi State, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, has inaugurated the newly renovated General Hospital, Argungu.

Governor Idris noted that he has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services in the state with the inauguration of the revitalized health facility. 

The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  that the project cost for the extensive renovation is ₦973.8 million while adding that it is part of a broader efforts to upgrade healthcare infrastructure across the state.

Governor Idris emphasized that the revitalization project aligns with his administration’s promise to provide accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare for all.

‘This intervention is part of our campaign promises to deliver the dividends of democracy to our people’ the  governor submitted in his speech after inaugurating the health facility on Monday.

.The General Hospital, Argungu, he noted, is one of the six health facilities undergoing comprehensive upgrades. 

‘Others include: Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, the State Teaching Hospital in Kalgo, and General Hospitals in Yauri, Zuru, and Koko. 

The projects focus on modernizing facilities and equipping hospitals with advanced medical technology, and increasing human resources for improved service delivery’ he said.

Governor Idris highlighted his administration’s significant investments in the health sector over the past 18 months, including the upgrade of Kebbi Medical Centre, Kalgo.

Others are the review of the Consolidated Medical Salary Scale to curb brain drain, procurement of new ambulances, and the renovation of 13 primary healthcare centers.

 He also announced the installation of solar-powered systems in the State Teaching Hospital to ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.

The governor also reaffirmed Kebbi State’s participation in the World Bank-funded IMPACT project, aimed at strengthening primary healthcare services as part of efforts to achieve Universal Health Coverage by 2030.

Governor Idris urged the Ministry of Health and hospital management to ensure  proper maintenance of the newly upgraded facility.

 He also expressed gratitude to the project contractors for delivering quality work within the stipulated timeframe and thanked the people of Argungu for their unwavering support.

‘My administration remains dedicated to strengthening healthcare delivery in Kebbi State. 

We will continue to invest in infrastructure, medical equipment, and human resources to enhance service quality’ he assured.

The governor however directed the Ministry of Health to sack the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the newly renovated Argungu General Hospital, Dr. Emmanuel Ehiem with immediate effect citing poor service delivery. 

He also directed the Ministry of Health to immediately replace the sacked CMD with a competent hand who can manage the hospital professionally.

‘I received a text from a patient who complained to me about the condition of the hospital. 

On hearing the complaint, I came to the hospital with my driver in the night and saw for myself the condition of the hospital’ he lamented.

At the occasion, the Chairman of Argungu Local Government , Hon Sani Aliyu Gulma donated 15 new motorcycles to the local government party exco and sewing machines to  the women.
