Gov Idris Orders Investigation Into Fire Incident At Arabic School, Restates Commitment To Safety Of Kebbi Students

Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, has directed the immediate constitution of a high-powered committee to investigate the fire incident that occurred at Nurul Haqq Quranic and Arabic School, Birnin Kebbi.

The incident, which occurred on Saturday evening, affected several hostels and classrooms at the school.

Governor Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday that the Kauran Gwandu issued the directive shortly after personally supervising emergency response efforts at the scene of the incident.

‘The governor, who was on his way to break his Ramadan fast, noticed a thick smoke billowing along the roadside and promptly instructed his convoy to pull over in order to ascertain the source of the smoke. Upon discovering that the smoke was coming from the school premises, he immediately ordered the evacuation of all students and contacted the Kebbi State Fire Service and other emergency responders to swiftly contain the situation. His prompt intervention ensured that rescue operations commenced without delay.

Despite observing his fast, Governor Idris remained at the scene of the incident throughout the emergency operation, personally monitoring the evacuation process to ensure that all over 140 students were safely moved out of harm’s way and properly accounted for. He stayed until the fire was completely extinguished, placing the safety and welfare of the children above personal comfort.

Describing the incident as unfortunate, the governor expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah that no lives were lost. He noted that the presence of gas cylinders in some of the rooms of the students contributed to the intensity of the fire, which firefighters battled for approximately three to four hours before bringing it under control’ the statement said.

Governor Idris, he added, commended the Kebbi State Fire Service for its prompt response, professionalism, and dedication in managing the situation effectively. He also reassured parents and guardians that all the students at the school are safe, in stable condition, and have been relocated to the main branch of the school.

The governor restated his administration’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of students across Kebbi State while emphasizing that the investigation committee will thoroughly examine the root causes of the incident and recommend appropriate measures to prevent any recurrence in schools across the state-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
