Gov Idris Receives PDP Bigwig Mai Ashana And Supporters Into APC In Binrin Kebbi

A Kebbi State PDP bigwig, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Mai Ashana, who is the Managing Director of Firdaus Airline, formally left the party for the ruling APC on Sunday.

Mai Ashana, who is from Jega Local Government, joined the APC alongside hundreds of his supporters.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by Governor Nasir Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki  noted that the defection ceremony took place at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, and was witnessed by top government functionaries, party leaders, and major APC stakeholders from Jega Local Government.

Speaking at the event, Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Mai Ashana expressed gratitude to Almighty Allah for witnessing what he described as a historic day for Kebbi State and Jega Local Government in particular.

He praised Governor Nasir Idris, who he referred to as ‘Workaholic Governor’ for his people-oriented leadership style.

He said his decision to dump the PDP and join the APC was made freely and without any conditions, noting that the unity, developmental projects, and inclusive governance promoted by Governor Idris in Jega and across the state are impossible to ignore.

According to him, the governor’s impact in community development, welfare of workers, youth empowerment, and religious affairs, including unprecedented support for pilgrims, convinced him to align with the APC-led administration in Kebbi State.

Also speaking, Alhaji Mai Sallah Jega, one of the leaders of the PDP defectors, said the people of Jega are solidly behind Governor Nasir Idris because of visible projects and sustained government presence in the area, adding that no previous administration had delivered such level of development to the local government.

Governor Nasir Idris warmly welcomed Alhaji Abdullahi Aliyu Mai Ashana and his supporters to the APC, describing their defection as a positive boost to the party and a confirmation of public confidence in his administration’s performance.

The governor noted that Mai Ashana had personally toured the 21 local government areas of the state to assess projects executed by the APC-led government before taking the decision to join the party, stressing that such a decision demonstrated sincerity and conviction.

Governor Idris assured the new members of fairness, inclusiveness, and equal treatment within the APC, emphasizing that the party does not recognize ‘old’ or ‘new’ members but regards everyone as one family working for the progress of Kebbi State.

He further highlighted his administration’s policy of empowering local contractors by awarding projects within their respective communities, noting that this approach has enhanced economic growth and ensured widespread participation in governance.

Governor Idris disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be visiting Kebbi State to inaugurate some projects and attend the Argungu International Fishing Festival.

In separate goodwill messages,  APC National Organizing Secretary, Alhaji Sulaiman Muhammad Argungu, and the State APC Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Kana-Zuru, commended Governor Nasir Idris for fulfilling most of his campaign promises and assured Mai Ashana and his supporters of full integration and equal opportunities within the party.

The event concluded with prayers for continued peace, unity, and development in Kebbi State, as party leaders and supporters reaffirmed their commitment to the APC and Governor Nasir Idris’ leadership-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
