Gov Idris Swears In New Solid Minerals Devt Commissioner, Appoints Abdulahi Warrah As Pioneer MD Of Mining Agency

Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu, has sworn in Hon. Garba Hassan Warrah as the new Commissioner for Solid Minerals Development and Mining while he has also appointed Abdullahi Buhari Warrah as pioneer Managing Director of the newly established Kebbi State Mining Development Agency (KSMDA).

Hon. Garba Hassan Warrah replaces Alhaji Haliru Aliyu Muhammad Wasagu, who was recently suspended by the governor.

The Chief Judge of the state, Justice Umar Abubakar administered the oath of office to the new commissioner at an event presided over by Governor Nasir Idris at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi, on Monday.

Governor Idris congratulated the new appointees, describing the momentum as a historic occasion.

He added that their appointment was based on merit and track record, stressing that his administration would not condone non-performance or laxity from any government official.

‘I believe in your track record and goodwill, that is why we have entrusted you with these responsibilities, but if you fail to deliver, we will show you the way out’ a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki quoted him as saying.

The governor also emphasized that the priority of the new commissioner and the agency is to boost revenue generation for the state.

‘No government can toy with revenue generation, we know what we expended in securing the mining site in Ngaski and, at the end of the day, there was nothing to write home about, that is why I took action’  he explained.

Governor Idris noted that the creation of the Mining Development Agency and the appointment of a competent indigene to lead it are deliberate steps and measures aimed at repositioning the mining sector.

He reiterated that the monthly federal allocation alone is insufficient to meet the developmental needs of Kebbi State, hence the need to diversify revenue sources.

He urged the appointees to deliver tangible results within six months, assuring them of government’s full support and an enabling environment to succeed.

‘We are going to give you every support, all we want from you is performance and results. Congratulations once again’ the governor said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
