Gov Yusuf, Kano Assembly Members Should Be Commended For Rescuing Our Heritage, History- Emir Of Kano

The reenthroned Emir of Kano, Alhaji  Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi,  has commended  Governor Abba Yusuf and members of the Kano state House of Assembly  for  taking steps to rescue ‘our heritage’ and history.

He also said this intervention and the will of God had made his reenthronement possible..

‘The Arabians used to say in everything that we are going to witness, there is a lesson that shows us that God is there. Whatever is happening to an individual is preordained by Allah and to those who are sensible enough, it’s a lesson.

God is one and whatever He does, nobody can change and what He doesn’t do, nobody can.

Time will not permit for long talks. Whatever we will say, we have said it when we were leaving. We made it clear that God has preordained time and cause for everything and everyone. He gave leadership to whom he wanted and at the time he wanted. When He gives, no one can take it away and when he takes it away, nobody can take it back’ Alhaji Lamido Sanusi submitted after receiving his letter of reappointment at the Government House, Kano on Friday.

Team@orientactualmags.com  learned that the former CBN governor  not only commended the governor and the state lawmakers for ensuring his reenthronement but also noted that the system would have been totally destroyed if steps had not been taken to correct the situation.

‘My governor and our assembly members, you will not understand the gravity of what you did for the history of Kano and the country at large. Among Kano Emirs, it started from Bagauda over 1,000 years ago. In this year, it was once that we had Emir Muhammadu Koguna who was overthrown and he came back after some days. This shows that in 1,000 years, there has been no case like what happened now.

In the northern part of this country, we have seen it in different states how politicians balkanized emirates with a state with one Emir becoming 20, some 19. In states of northern Nigeria, there are Local Governments with two or three first-class Emirs all because the system has been destroyed.

This thing that has been brought to Kano, had it been it was allowed, one day we will wake up with Emir of Kumbotso, Bichi, Fagge and 44 Emirs. So, what the government and the assembly did is a rescue mission’ he added.

Alhaji Lamido Sanusi  has returned to the throne exactly after 4 years and 76 days.  He had earlier ascended the throne on June 8, 2014.

‘With the full support of the kingmakers, I have approved the reappointment of Malam Sanusi Lamido’ Governor Abba Yusuf gleefully had submitted at the Art Chamber of the Government House , Kano at about  5:16 pm on Thursday.

Recall that  Alhaji  Abdulahi  Ganduje, who is currently the APC National Chairman,  had  in his eight years as governor of Kano state did a lot of things that influenced the course of history especially when it comes to chieftaincy matters.

Recall  also that in 2019, the House of Assembly had approved the creation of four additional emirate councils, bringing the number of First-Class Emirs in the state to five.

Apart from creating new emirate councils, Alhaji Muhammadu  Lamido Sanusi, a former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN,  was also removed as Emir of Kano on   March  9 ,2020 .

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who was then serving as Emir of Bichi , was appointed as the new Emir of Kano.

The new councils created by the Ganduje administration are  Gaya; Karaye, Rano, Bichi Emirate Councils.

Alhaji Lamido Sanusi had  not  only opposed this  but also instituted a lawsuit against the  state government then headed by  Alhaji  Abdulahi Ganduje and the house of assembly  while  Justice A. T. Badamasi of the state high court had also at an instance given an order restraining the  then governor from creating the now defunct emirate councils.

After scaling 3rd reading, the Kano state house of assembly on Thursday passed the Kano Emirates Council law (repeal bill) 2024 into law.

The new bill was assented to by Governor Abba Yusuf on the same day and it has invalidated the creation of four new Emirate councils in the state.

Recall that a group, the Yan Dangwalen Jihar Kano (the Kano Electorate), had sent a letter to the Kano state House of Assembly which was dated February 5,  2024, seeking a review of the bill creating the Gaya, Rano, Karaye, and Bichi emirate councils.

They had also demanded that Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi II should be restored to the throne–Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
