Group Says ADC Now Recognized As ‘Credible Alternative’ In Kwara, Cites PDP, APC Defections

African Democratic Congress (ADC) has become popular and it currently has the highest level of public support in Kwara State, a group, the ADC Vanguard, has submitted.

Coordinator of the group, Mr Abdullahi Jubril in a statement he issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com cited recent PDP and APC defections while also providing names and letters of resignation of some among former members of the aforementioned political parties who have joined the ADC.

‘Kwara State politics is experiencing a major shake-up with the wave of APC and PDP defections.

Stakeholders, ward chairmen, and youth groups are resigning from the two major parties in large numbers, citing the collapse of internal security, lack of good governance, and a deepening crisis of confidence.

For many, the PDP is considered too weak to guarantee political aspirations, while confidence in the APC has eroded under unmet expectations and governance failures.

These shifts have left the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as the credible and rising alternative in Kwara’s political landscape.

Notable resignations from the ruling APC include Umar Sha’aba Abubakar of Lafiagi, who left the party on September 23, 2025. Umar, an indigene of Edu Local Government, is widely regarded as a proven grassroots mobilizer.

In the same vein, Alhaji Tunde Mohammed of Ogidi Ward, Ilorin West Local Government, a frontline stakeholder with deep political influence, also resigned from the APC. His decision was attributed to poor governance and the collapse of security architecture under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq.

Similarly, Alhaji Atanda Musa from Abati Alara Ward, Moro Local Government, who is popularly called MC Oluomo , also dumped the APC citing poor governance.

Most significantly, Ambassador Mohammed Bello Abioye of Omu-Aran Ward 1, Irepodun Local Government, has ended his membership of APC citing lack of internal democracy in the party.

The PDP has also suffered setbacks in Tsaragi Ward II, Edu Local Government, Bacita, members of the Youth Association Forum — a formidable youth group within the party — resigned en masse, further weakening the party’s grassroots base.

These prominent individuals and groups, along with their supporters, have since pledged allegiance to the African Democratic Congress (ADC). This wave of defections has further strengthened ADC’s structure and positioned the party as a formidable and strong party ahead of the 2027 general election’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
