Group Warns Kwara PDP Against Inciting Violence, Urges Respect For Traditional Institutions
The Kwara Awareness Group (KAG) has warned the leading opposition party in the State of Harmony, PDP, against actions and activities capable of plunging the state into violence and lawlessness.
They have also been urged to desist from trying to take the shine off the ongoing laudable projects and the delivery of good governance by the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration.
KAG in a statement issued by its Chairman, Mr. Daniel Afolayan, and, Secretary, Mr Ridwan Olalekan in Ilorin on Friday which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com raised the alarm about the alleged plot by the PDP to cause division among the ‘traditional leaders’ and make traditional authorities in the state be in disarray noting that this, if not nipped in the bud, will have catastrophic consequences, cognizant that the ‘traditional leaders’ play significant roles in governance, conflict resolution, cultural preservation, and social cohesion in their respective communities.
While noting that leaders of the opposition party deep down their hearts know that security is everybody’s business, KAG submitted that it has been observed that they are not only quick to gleefully announce it whenever a negative incident is reported in the state but would also try to present it as a failure on the part of the state government calling this ‘bad politics’.
The group warned that inciting the chiefs against their respective monarchs and its concomitant negative effects will definitely not be in the interest of anyone hence the need to caution the PDP against such an anti-people action.
KAG also described PDP’s recent actions as a diversionary tactic intended to distract attention from the threat posed to its existence in the state by the ADC.
‘We have it on good authority that the PDP is inciting chiefs against their respective monarchs in Kwara South and they have even reportedly gone ahead to mobilize them for an upcoming meeting.
We however urge the people promoting this to put a stop to it and avoid actions that can plunge the state into violence and lawlessness.
They did this during the Mohammed Lawal administration and succeeded in turning the traditional authorities and the constituted authorities against each other but this time around, it is dead on arrival.
Traditional institutions with their deep-rooted influence and cultural significance, play a vital role in maintaining peace and resolving conflicts within communities therefore any conflict involving monarchs and their chiefs may lead to uncontrollable violence in communities in the state at a time when their focus should be on security of life and property within their respective domains.
We must not and cannot afford to expose our state to such a security risk, we must all avoid anything that can potentially lead to an explosive situation’ the group added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
