Guber Election: Abdulahi Yaman Unveils Manifesto In Ilorin, Promises To Reposition Kwara For Economic Growth

Ahead of the March 11 ,2023 gubernatorial election in Kwara state, PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Shuaib Abdulahi Yaman had party members and supporters gathered at the Monarchs Hotel, Ilorin-Ajase-Ipo road, Ilorin for the unveiling ceremony of his manifesto on Thursday.
Giving his speech, Alhaji Shuaib Abdulahi Yaman, noted that his being into politics is a matter of conscience and the commitment to ensure that generations to come will have a secure future.
He also noted that in preparation for a third world war that will not be fought through the use of soldiers , artillery or weapons but rather through intellectual capacity , there is a need to prepare the young Kwarans to become ‘bosses’ and not ‘boys’.
Yaman also promised that if elected as governor, he will through partnership with relevant institutions and the private sector industrialize Kwara state and make the young people in the state become self-sufficient and self-independent.

He listed steps that will be taken to create prosperity for residents and citizens of Kwara state to include the growing of cotton which will have the people cultivating 250,000 hectares of land for this purpose in four years , establishment of textile factories , building cattle ranches in Kaiama and Moro local governments which will make Kwara become a centre for production of milk in the country while adding that Nano Milk had already bought into this agenda .
While adding that this will also result in production of hide and skin, he has promised to partner with GUCCI and other international companies to grow the shoe making industry in the state, noting that what he called ‘cassava revolution’ will also surface in Kwara South.
Like it had been done in Nairobi. Kenya, Yaman also said he has plans to create a platform for fresh flowers to get exported from Ilorin to Amsterdam and this will according to him create jobs and improve the economy of the state capital.
While submitting that his administration will not rely on the federal allocations, Yaman also promised that if elected as governor, the internally generated revenue of the state will increase from 23 billion to 145 billion naira as the business entities that must have surfaced on his watch will pay taxes.
He asserted that the problems the state had continued to face will be effectively addressed through his 5-point agenda which are economic prosperity for all Kwarans, social services reform, human capital development, infrastructural revolution and financial security and investment for the future.

He also listed his ‘plan of action’ and focus to include ‘economic prosperity anchored on a pragmatic ,agro-digital economy via a public-private -partnership approach, making Kwara to become the leading exporter of cotton cassava and horticultural products from Nigeria within the next six years ,creation of 400,000 new jobs in 6 years, integrated infrastructural management and development , increase in GDP of Kwara state from 3.8 billion dollars to 14 billion dollars annually within the next six years, transformation of Kwara from a ‘civil service state’ into the industrial and manufacturing epicentres in the country and making agro- allied and manufacturing sector to contribute 85 per cent of Kwara GDP within 6 years’.

Responding to a reporter’s question on his willingness to make such a manifesto available to others, Alhaji Abdulahi says ‘It is not about the manifesto but the heart to do it . I have the heart to do it . We will therefore be the one to implement it by the Grace of God’.
While promising to ensure that Kwara state civil service becomes one of the most efficient in the country with the welfare of workers prioritized , Yaman has also promised to reposition the entertainment industry in the state .
Earlier in his opening remarks, the state PDP Chairman, Alhaji Babatunde Mohammed , had urged members of the party not to allow what happened on Saturday 25 February 2023 to demoralize them submitting that the PDP didn’t lose the elections in question and that the party will not only reclaim what he called ‘stolen mandate’ through legal means but has also remained the most popular party in the state and would only become stronger.
He urged party members and supporters to return to their respective wards to let the people know that only the PDP can solve the problems the state had faced and change things for the better.
Ahead of the gubernatorial and House of Assembly elections scheduled to hold on March 11 ,2023, ,Alhaji Babatunde Muhammed also urged party members and canvassers, who would be voting outside the state capital, to ensure that they leave Ilorin on Thursday so as to arrive at their respective towns and villages early and begin to prepare for the elections.
He also advised them to be friendly with members of the other opposition parties noting that they have the same goal of stopping Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq from getting re-elected.
Chairman of the Kwara state PDP campaign Council, Professor Ali Ahmad also noted that the PDP gubernatorial candidate had spoken to Kwarans at an important time urging them to listen and digest the manifesto and internalize it.
He urged Kwarans to embrace the manifesto and the party noting that this had remained the best course of action.
Also speaking, Kwara state PDP Deputy Governorship candidate, former rep Gbenga Makanjuola urged support for the party.
‘It is not just a paper work, the contents of what you are seeing here is a product of efforts with regard to the needs and yearnings of Kwarans , it is a well –thought- out and a well- researched manifesto.
I can assure you that by the special Grace of God like we always say, ‘seeing is believing’ that all that have been put into this document, Almighty God will give us the grace, the strength and the wisdom and the courage to implement it’ he said.
