Hajj: Kebbi Govt Delegation Meets Contractor In Charge Of Feeding In Mecca

In a swift response to the concerns raised by Kebbi State pilgrims in Makkah, members of the state government delegation, the Feeding Committee, and the Hajj Media Team visited and held fruitful discussions with the contractor handling feeding of the pilgrims on Wednesday.

The pilgrims had raised issues that have to do with the quantity, occasional shortages, and ‘feeding time’. They also requested for a variety of food.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by Governor Nasir Idris’ Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted that the delegation was led by Alhaji Haruna Iliyasu Bashar, District Head of Raha and a member of the 2025 Hajj Government Delegation, who represented Emir of Argungu, the State Amiru’l Hajj.

In his opening remarks,  Secretary of the Feeding Committee, Alhaji Isah Assalafi, who stood in for the Chairman of the Committee , appreciated the contractor’s quality of service and longstanding partnership.

He, however, formally tabled the concerns of the pilgrims.

‘The quality of food is good, but our pilgrims have observed some issues with the quantity, occasional shortages, feeding times, and a lack of variety.

As officials, we have also documented these concerns, and that’s why we are here’ he said.

Following his remarks, members of the team made various suggestions toward resolving the issues and the contractor, Mousa Hami later promised to look into the issues raised by the pilgrims.

He assured the delegation of an increase in food quantity beyond the current allocation and emphasized the importance of proper documentation and verification of the supplies.

Talking to journalists after the meeting, Alhaji Haruna Iliyasu Bashar, reaffirmed the delegation’s commitment to ensuring the smooth conduct of the Hajj exercise.

‘The governor sent us to ensure the smooth conduct of the Hajj.

We are his eyes and ears here. His Excellency, Dr. Nasir Idris (Kauran Gwandu), has done his part, it is now our responsibility to ensure justice is done to our pilgrims’ he said.

He noted that the contractor had already begun making improvements even before the meeting.

Alhaji Isah Assalafi also expressed satisfaction with the outcome, describing the concerns not as complaints but observations, which the contractor had humbly accepted.

He assured the pilgrims that the adjustments would soon be visible through increased portions and improved quality while thanking Governor Nasir Idris for the rare opportunity given to them to serve the state.
