Former Senator Lee Maeba has declared that he will remain undaunted and will never abandon his role as Alhaji Atiku Abubakar’s ‘Campaigner -in -Chief’ in Rivers state come what may.
This is coming a few hours after hoodlums numbering over 20 attacked his residence in GRA, Port Harcourt and vandalized his properties including cars.
Atiku is the PDP presidential candidate and the state governor, Mr Nyesome Wike and four other PDP governors had insisted that they will not campaign for the former Vice President.
Maeba, who represented Rivers South-East in the Senate, had since pointed the finger at the state government.
In viral photos and video clips it was seen that windscreens of vehicles parked at his residence were smashed.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned an eyewitness, who identified himself as Maeba’s brother, said the attackers , armed with dangerous weapons, struck in the early hours of Thursday, smashing windscreens of vehicles and destroying other properties.
‘When they attacked, they were asking: ‘Where is he, one single bullet would have solved this problem. This programme you are using to disturb Wike here would have ended’ he said .
‘My brother was injured and currently undergoing treatment. So his blood has been spilled for what reason? the former senator also submitted.
Maeba has however said he wil as a PDP man ensure that Atiku wins in the upcoming presidential election in the state.
‘I am a PDP man, I must ensure the Presidential candidate of our party wins election in my locality, in my state because that is my job. I am doing democracy here. I am not doing thuggery. I have no space for thuggery.
They came to kill me but only God knows when I will die. And anybody, who planned this, has struck a rock and the result is coming’ he added.
The State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Chris Finebone, has however in a statement issued in Port Harcourt asked security agencies to get the attackers arrested.
‘It is not strange to find politicians staging high level melodrama to either cover up their tracks or muddle the waters to achieve a preconceived narrative aimed at hoodwinking the public for political reasons especially at a time like this.
Today, a report by former Senator, Lee Maeba, surfaced on social media that he got a call from a young man. And the caller purportedly, in his own words said that they have instructions from either government or some quarters to attack his house.
This makes it obvious that Senator Maeba should help security agencies in unraveling the purported attack on his house and those behind it. It is not enough to blame such an attack on either government or some quarters .
He should try and remember exactly whom the caller said sent him’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
