Health Insurance: Lekan Adewoye Foundation Provides Funds For Enrollment Of 1,000 Kwara Southerners, Donates 30 KVA Mikano Generator To Kwara APC

Prince Lekan Adewoye,  a philanthropist, has taken steps to improve health insurance enrollment and meet the healthcare needs of the Kwara South people by making the sum of six million naira available for the enrollment of 1,000 vulnerable individuals in the senatorial district   under the health insurance scheme of the Kwara state Health Insurance Agency, KW-HIA which is called ‘Kwara Care’.

He has done this through  his non-governmental organization,  the Lekan Adewoye Foundation.

Speaking  through  the Oyun Local Government  Coordinator of the foundation, Alhaji Ahmed Kolawole,  during the presentation of the cheque  at the agency’s headquarters in Ilorin, on Tuesday, Prince Lekan Adewoye submitted that he  has for years now shown commitment to improving the lives of people at the grassroots through provision of access to quality healthcare, noting that the enrollment will cover beneficiaries from all the wards in Kwara South to ensure equal opportunities.

Alhaji Kolawole ,who noted that the initiative is a testament to shared commitment to the well-being of Kwara southerners, added that the  Lekan Adewoye Foundation has been working tirelessly to give vulnerable people needed support and resources.

While acknowledging the strides made   by the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration  in all aspects of human endeavours to ensure equitable health delivery to all and sundry, Alh Kolawole submitted that the foundation has also invested in the education, food security and economic empowerment of some groups and individuals with the  aim of assisting less privileged.

Kwara state Commissioner for Health, Dr Aminat Ahmed Al-Imam commended the Lekan Adewoye Foundation for complementing the state government’s efforts with respect to provision of affordable healthcare to the grassroots, adding that the foundation has shown genuine love to Kwara southerners through the support.

Dr. Aminat Al-Imam added that the AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration is determined and committed to the well-being of  residents of Kwara  state with the implementation of a health policy that is geared towards improving affordable healthcare  in the state.

Also speaking, the Executive Secretary, of Kwara state Health Insurance Agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter said the implementation of the scheme started in 2020 with the enrollment of 10,000 indigents by the state government  while adding that the scheme had since grown to 60,000  enrollees with over 85 accredited providers across the state.

She also told Team@orientactualmags.com  that having prominent people making funds available for the enrollment of people has shown that ‘the health insurance agency is achieving its vision statement and goals’.

Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter

‘First of all, I want to thank God that people are noticing some of the things we are doing because if the health insurance is not working for the people ,we definitely would not be able to find donors who would come and support our efforts.

Again, many thanks go to the Executive Governor of Kwara state for creating an enabling environment for this health insurance programme to work for kwarans.

This is a social intervention  that is designed to ensure that people do not spend so much money on their health needs through the financial support of the government. Having said that, the government cannot be left alone to do everything and sponsorship like this helps to further enhance penetration of health insurance to the grassroots where we mostly need them.

People who cannot afford to pay for their healthcare needs would  ordinarily be looking for alternative ways but now this foundation has created a path for them to be able to access quality health care services and quality facilities so that their health can improve significantly through the implementation of Kwara state Insurance Scheme, we have had other donors who have been supporting us along the way, we have people in  the Diaspora KSANG, Igbaja Development  Association, and also we’ve had different people we’ve even attracted international donors who have contributed to our efforts to ensure that the health insurance scheme spread as much as possible and gets to the grassroots where we need them most.

We are very thankful to the Lekan Adewoye Foundation for supporting all the six local governments in Kwara South with this 1,000 enrollment, it would definitely penetrate. We would identify the poorest of the poor who need it the most and those are the ones that would be the beneficiaries of this and also through this foundation, we are opening channels for other potentials donors and sponsors to do the same for their own community and if we keep doing this in no time at all we would reach the nooks and crannies of Kwara state  and everybody can proudly boast of having something that gives them access to quality healthcare services, after all we say health is wealth, there’s no state that can create wealth without having a healthy populace, so we need people who are healthy and need it to be affordable and of good quality and that is exactly what we are seeing today’ she added.

The Foundation also on Tuesday donated a 30 KVA  ‘Mikano’  generator to the Kwara state APC for the use of  staff and party officials at the State APC secretariat in GRA, Ilorin.

Prince Fagbemi noted that this had come  barely 24 hours after the party celebrated the fifth anniversary of the current administration in the state which is headed by ‘our performing governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’ .

‘Today, again , we are here to celebrate another success, a goodwill that the party is enjoying  from  the people that have been blessed by God and even  though he is  not occupying  a political office but he  has deemed it fit that the party must have power supply at all times’ he submitted while adding that  ‘We have never received such a gift in this party’.

‘It is marvelous. This is a party that has the interest of the people at heart, we appreciate him for supporting us’ he also added.

He  submitted that Adewoye  has continued to complement the good works of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq adding that this ‘is commendable’.

Speaker Danladi also  recalled that Adewoye had on April 30 this year held an empowerment programme in Arandun, Irepodun local government,    and he has urged him to keep up the good work.

He also submitted that Adewoye considering it important to make such a donation to the party was a  product of good leadership  that the party has enjoyed.

In his remarks, Prince Kayode Adewoye disclosed that he had sent a team to  the party secretariat  after the empowerment programme he held in Arandun a few weeks ago , and upon their return, he was informed that there would be a need for a big generator  for the use of party officials and staff  and he had consequently taken necessary steps to make this available to the party.

‘As we all know, power is very important when it comes to making a system effective irrespective of profession or sector and a party like this, I believe it is very special to all of us who are members of the APC,  that was why  I mandated my people to  make the brand new generator available to the party and  I believe this will bring prosperity to the people  starting from the party secretariat and of course  to the entire members of APC and Kwara state as a whole.

I thank the chairman for indulging us by accepting this token   and we do not take this for granted’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
