‘High Participation’ In Membership Registration Exercise ‘Good Signs’ For Kwara PDP…Our Intraparty Conflict ‘Resolvable’-Saraki

‘High Participation’ In Membership Registration Exercise ‘Good Signs’ For Kwara PDP…Our Intraparty Conflict ‘Resolvable’-Saraki

Former Senate President, Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki submitted on Wednesday that the intraparty conflict in the PDP is ‘resolvable’ while expressing confidence that the party will regain its ‘political virility’.

He also urged stakeholders in the party to make personal sacrifices and group sacrifices in the interest of the country submitting that PDP remains the only viable opposition party in the country.

Dr Saraki, who said this while talking to journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com after participating in the ongoing registration of new members and ‘membership renewal’ exercise being carried out by the state PDP in Ilorin, on Wednesday, promised to give his best to efforts to achieve unity in the party while also doing the needful to ensure that the PDP does not become extinct.

He also said PDP will provide an effective opposition in order to ensure that we have features of ‘true democracy’.

‘I want to use this opportunity to reassure PDP members across the country that we are doing our best to correct the situation in our party.

We are confident that we will tackle the situation, we are committed to it because we are all committed to a fledging democracy, and a fledging democracy with a vibrant opposition is what democracy is all about and we are all committed to that.

We all have to make personal sacrifices and group sacrifices in the interest of the country, the only viable opposition party is PDP and as such we cannot throw away what took us years to build, yes, there are challenges and I have taken it upon myself to do my best and I am seeing responses from our colleagues who are also ready to settle our differences.

We were able to do our NEC meeting, we have scheduled a meeting for the end of this month, between now and then there will be a lot of leg work.

Luckily for us, we started early, we have two years more. We have time to know those who will stay and rebuild the party. Some might still go, and some might still join us. Like today, I received new members into the party at the state level. Once there is stability at the top, I’m sure we’ll begin to see a better future for PDP and I thank Nigerians for being patient with the leaders of the party’ he said.

Commenting on the ongoing registration of new members and ‘membership renewal’ exercise being carried out by the state PDP which began on May 17, 2025, Dr Bukola Saraki, a former governor of Kwara State, said he has gotten ‘heartwarming reports’ while submitting that he is convinced that Kwarans still love the party.

‘We are more encouraged by the level of enthusiasm we have seen, how people have come out to register with the party,  people are coming out to show that they are tired of the state of things in the state, we are receiving new members and the old members are very active,  the number we are seeing is very impressive.

We are very confident with what we have seen, I think it is a factor of what people are going through in the state, insecurity, unemployment, hunger and lack of the presence of governance.

So, we are confident that the PDP will bounce back’ he said.

Responding to a reporter’s question asking him to compare the PDP administration in the state with that of the APC, Dr Saraki said people have seen the difference.

‘It is not about what we say, you can talk to people and they will tell you the difference between us and what they have seen in the state , the kind of representation they are getting,  we would have thought that after staying long out of government with this kind of exercise people will not come out in large numbers but that is not what we are seeing ,we are seeing people coming out to be associated with PDP, they are  even saying it is not about voting but they are ready to say ‘I  want people to know that Iam a PDP member’. We are happy about this.

That also tells us at the grassroots that people are still in love with our party, we know of course that we are having our challenges at the national level at the moment but when we see things like this, we are confident now that once we can sort out ourselves at the top level of the leadership and Iam confident we can do that, everything will fall in place at the grassroots level’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
