I Still Live In A Rented House In Abuja , I Never Touched LG Funds As Kano Governor-Shekerau

Alhaji Ibrahim Shekarau, who was the governor of Kano state between 2003 and 2011 and later served as a member of the Nigerian senate, has disclosed that he still lives in a rented house in Abuja, the federal capital.
He also added that he did not collect bribes from any contractor throughout his tenure as governor of Kano state.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Shekarau said this during the press conference held to announce the activities marking the 70th Anniversary of the Muslim Student’s Society of Nigeria in Abuja on Wednesday.
The former senator also said he never touched local government funds during his governorship.
‘I may not be the only one but you may be very sure I’m one of very few governors that, for eight years, never touched local government funds.
And in my 44 years of public leadership, I have never negotiated with any contractor.
I am proud to say that I have never taken any money from any contractor. They are all there, they know. The only thing I owned today is my house where I live in Kano.
I still live in a rented house here in Abuja and I was able to do this through the inspiration of the MSSN moral training’ he said.
Alhaji Shekarau said the MSSN would continue to strive towards strengthening the Muslim community educationally, economically, spiritually and politically noting that this will be achieved through a wide spectrum of activities in schools and the larger society in partnership with like-minded people and organizations.
‘At the moment, while we do not have the number of graduates under the umbrella of the MSSN, but I can tell you, today we have 37,000 branches across the federation.
We will strive to introduce new programmes and processes that will consolidate the fostering of unity and brotherhood, and that will encourage members to participate in politics and governance’ Shekerau, who is the Deputy Chairman, Board of Trustees of MSSN, said.
The former governor however lamented that since coming into being 60 years ago, the MSSN did not have a befitting National Headquarters until recently-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
