IBEDEC Coverage Areas Risk Blackouts Over Failure To Pay Electricity Bills

The Ibadan Electricity Distribution company (IBEDC) coverage areas are facing a possible blackout from next month, the power company warned on Wednesday.
IBEDEC coverage areas include Oyo, Ogun, Osun and Kwara states and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi states.
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Wednesday morning which was signed by the power company’s MD/CEO , Engr. Kingsley Achife noted that the Market Operator, a unit in the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), ‘is planning to disconnect our feeders from the national grid next month due to poor remittances’.
‘As a revenue collection arm of the electricity value chain, IBEDC sells and distributes electricity generated by the generation companies. However, the company is unable to meet its financial obligations to the electricity value chain due to poor payment and huge outstanding bills by customers.
We appeal to our esteemed customers to pay their current and outstanding bills to enable IBEDC to meet its obligations to the Market Operator and other parties in the electricity supply industry to ensure continued and uninterrupted power supply’ the power company said.
The statement also noted that IBEDC as a responsible corporate organization, would always provide a reliable and excellent service to its esteemed customers and attach importance to this, but would however require timely payment for the energy consumed.
‘Payment for electricity is essential to ensure the sustainability of our operations, and it is a responsibility that we all share.
We urge our customers to note that failure to pay current and outstanding electricity bills may result in disruption of power to homes, communities, and businesses connected to our network.
We encourage all customers to pay their bills promptly to avoid any inconvenience’ the statement submitted -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme? Kindly send SMS to 08059100286, 09094171980. Thank you
