Members of the Cadet Inspector course 36/2002 of the Nigeria Police Force at the weekend honoured Alhaji Ibrahim Mohammed Ajia with an Award of Excellence citing his selfless service and outstanding performance as a police officer.
Alhaji Ajia had voluntarily resigned from the police force and ventured into business , politics and philanthropic activities a few years ago.
The retired police officer was on Saturday night honoured with an Award of Excellence by his former course mates , who noted that this was done in recognition of his gestures of goodwill , philanthropic activities and for touching the lives of policemen positively through his Mohammed Ajia Ibrahim (MAI) Foundation.
The Media Team of the top politician noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Sunday that he received the award in Abuja during an event held to mark the 20th anniversary of the course that joined the Nigeria Police Force in the year 2002.
Spokesman for the group, CSP Bello Yakubu while giving his speech explained that Alhaji Ajia had been supporting the force and officers at the front line adding that he single-handedly built and equipped a modern transit camp for the use of officers at Mopol 50 Kubwa, Abuja.
Ajia also according to him visited households at all the barracks in Abuja during the Covid 19 lockdowns to distribute food items and relief materials , while also coming to the aid of people with various health challenges as well as the needy.
Giving his acceptance speech after receiving the award from the Commissioner of Police , FCT command, CP Sunday Babaji, Ajia, who is the Ilorin West/Asa PDP House of Representatives candidate, appreciated the police force for the recognition and promised that, ‘if he earns election victory by the grace of God; he will sponsor a bill on National Security Architecture’.
He, however, encouraged them to continue to uphold the 3Cs which are; to be of good character, demonstrate uncommon Courage and show extreme competence with Excellent
‘This has come as a surprise to me and I will not take it for granted. I want to encourage you to always prioritize excellence performance. I know it is not easy to be a police officer in Nigeria, and this is one of the reasons why some of us had to leave the terrain so that we can join the other side and help you press for those things you need to do your work effectively.
I am promising you that the first thing I will strive to achieve at the National Assembly is to present a bill on Security Architecture of Nigeria where the role of internal security will be well- defined and explained.
One of the reasons we are facing serious insecurity is because we are spending billions of naira on defence without positive results.
That is why we can’t go anywhere. I will make sure that internal security is given priority when I get to the green chamber.
I promise you that I will make sure the set goal is achieved by the grace of God’ he said.
Highlights of the event include the donation of 500,000.00 naira to the family of late two officers ; Nasiru Jabo and Hassan Mathew by Ajia.
