Igbomina Lókàn: Why the Time Is Ripe For Igbomina In 2027 (Part 3)

Igbomina Lókàn: Why the Time Is Ripe For Igbomina In 2027 (Part 3)

The historical record is clear. Since the return to democracy in 1999, Igbomina has had only a brief taste of senate representation, while Ekiti and Ibolo blocs have enjoyed extended tenures. By 2027, Ibolo will have occupied the parliament seat for 12 years, matching Ekiti’s earlier stretch. In contrast, Igbomina’s single term of four years is a glaring imbalance.

This is not just about politics—it is about fairness, equity, and giving every bloc a meaningful stake in leadership.

Representation Should Reflect Demography and Local Strength*

Igbomina is the largest bloc in Kwara South, with three out of seven local governments. Its population, voter base, and grassroots mobilization capacity surpass those of Ekiti and Ibolo individually.

In a democratic system, representation should reflect both the size of the electorate and the bloc’s contribution to the district’s political life. Yet, for nearly three decades, the largest bloc has been underrepresented at the national level.

Allowing Igbomina to produce the next senator in 2027 is not about displacing others—it is about restoring balance and fairness.

Historical Precedent Supports Rotational Equity

Rotational representation is a principle recognized in democratic politics worldwide. It ensures that no single group dominates, and that all regions contribute to leadership at different times.

Kwara South has seen long stretches of representation from Ekiti and Ibolo. Igbomina’s turn is not just deserved; it is historically overdue.

By 2027, Igbomina will have held the Senate seat for only 14% of the Fourth Republic, despite being the largest bloc with more than half of the LGAs. Rotation is not just a courtesy; it is a matter of democratic fairness.

Exceptional Talent Awaits in Igbomina

Numbers alone do not tell the full story. Igbomina is home to viable, capable, and committed individuals ready to represent not only their bloc but the entire Kwara South Senatorial District.

These are leaders who have demonstrated loyalty, vision, and a deep understanding of local challenges. From community development to public service, Igbomina produces leaders who are prepared to take the Senate seat with competence and integrity.

Giving Igbomina the senate seat in 2027 will bring fresh perspectives, inclusive leadership, and a renewed energy to the district.

Equity Strengthens Political Unity

The ‘Igbomina Lókàn’ campaign is not about exclusion. It is about ensuring that all blocs feel represented.

Long stretches without representation risk alienating the largest bloc. Rotational fairness strengthens unity, cooperation, and collective progress.

By 2027, letting Igbomina lead is a preventive and unifying measure—a recognition that all blocs are essential partners in shaping Kwara South’s future.

A Direct Call To The Stakeholders: APC, Party Leaders, and the People

The ruling APC in Kwara has a responsibility to ensure equity, fairness, and inclusion in leadership decisions.

Under His Excellency, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the state has shown that fairness is not just rhetoric—it is practice. Kwara has achieved gender parity in cabinet appointments, giving platforms for everyone to dream, aspire, and participate in governance.

In this spirit, APC leaders, stakeholders, and party members are urged to support equitable rotation in the Senate seat. Recognizing Igbomina’s turn is strategic, unifying, and forward-looking.

Looking Ahead to 2027

By 2027, Kwara South will have completed 28 years of democratic representation. The historical record, population distribution, and political contribution all converge to one conclusion: it is Igbomina’s turn.

Equity, fairness, and long-term unity demand that the next senator from Kwara South should come from Igbomina.

This is not a call against any bloc- it is a call for balance, justice, and sustainable democratic practice.

Stakeholders, party leaders, and the APC under Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s visionary leadership are urged to act with equity and foresight, ensuring that ‘Igbomina Lókàn’ in 2027 becomes a model of inclusive representation for Kwara South and Nigeria
