Ignore Media Reports, FG Didn’t Pay Ransom To Anyone-Senator Adaramodu

Ignore Media Reports, FG Didn’t Pay Ransom To Anyone-Senator Adaramodu

Contrary to media reports, the Federal Government did not pay ransom to anyone before the 24 students who were abducted at Government Girls Comprehensive Secondary School, Maga, Kebbi State, were released ditto the students who were abducted in Niger State.

Team@orietactualmags.com learned that Senator Yemi Adaramodu, who represents Ekiti South senatorial district in the senate, made this clarification on Friday while appearing on Channels Television’s Morning Brief programme.

Adaramodu insisted that the government did not make ransom available to anyone while clarifying that although Mr Bayo Onanuga, the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy  confirmed that security agencies contacted bandits for the release of abducted people in Kwara State, negotiations or contact with kidnappers can however occur in different forms.

‘From our side in the National Assembly, we believe the Federal Government did not pay any ransom to anybody. If there is any contact with the bandits, there are various types — it can be forceful, persuasive or a mix of both’  he said.

Reacting to debates on social media that no images or reports of captured gunmen were released after the the release of abductees, he noted that criminals often abandon hostages once they realise that security agents are closing in.

‘If you have not seen the corpses of abductors or them being handcuffed, that does not negate the possibility of intense confrontation. When they sense superior firepower, they run and leave the victims behind’ he added.

That was not all, Senator Yemi Adaramodu also confirmed that the Senate has set up an ad-hoc committee to investigate the circumstances surrounding the Kebbi school abduction noting that preliminary briefings from state authorities and security agencies showed that soldiers posted to guard the school left their duty post shortly before the bandits struck-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
