IGP Usman Baba Warns Against Assault On Police Officers, Orders State Commands To Punish Transgressors

The Inspector-General of Police, Mr Usman Alkali Baba, has strongly condemned a recent development in the country which has had Police Officers and men in uniform getting assaulted in the execution of their duties. This , he noted, had gotten recorded at different locations in the country.
He emphasized that assaulting Police Officers, who are uniformed agents of the state, is both illegal and an affront on the rule of law.
The IGP in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by the Force PRO, Mr Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police, on Monday afternoon, warned that under no circumstances would attacks on police officers and men in the line of duty be tolerated, as the Force holds the lives of its personnel sacrosanct.
‘ Consequently, the IGP has directed all Police Commands and Formations to ensure that individuals who engage in assault on police officers, irrespective of preceding factors, are made to face the full wrath of the law via swift prosecution in courts of competent jurisdiction.
The Inspector-General of Police while restating the commitment of the Force to ensuring protection of lives and property, emphasized the importance of according respect to the fundamental rights of Police officers and other security agents, in order to enable them advance their sacred mandate of serving and protecting the citizens better and maintaining law and order’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
