Ilobu/Ifon Communal Violence: Osun Govt Reduces Curfew To 12 Hours
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state on Tuesday directed that the hours of the existing curfew in Irepodun and Orolu Local Governments should be reduced to 12 hours.
Recall that the state government had last week imposed 24 hours curfew on the local governments in question following resurgence of communal conflict..
A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, said the hours of the curfew has been reduced to twelve.
The statement noted that this was done sequel to the near state of total peace and harmony in Ilobu and Ifon communities.
Governor Adeleke noted that the decision of the state government to take ownership of the disputed lands still stands at least for now.
‘That, based on the recent Peace Agreement signed by Ifon and Ilobu Communities of Orolu and Irepodun local governments respectively, the Senator Ademola Adeleke administration is happy to state that the two communities are gradually embracing the need to engender peace and harmony, forthwith.
Premised on this, His Excellency, Senator Ademola Adeleke, the Executive Governor of Osun state, in his capacity as the Chief Security Officer of the state, has relaxed the 24-hour curfew to 12 hours daily, beginning from 6 pm to 6 am with immediate alacrity.
The Joint Security Task Force comprising the Nigerian Army, Police and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps and other security agencies should, however, continue their normal 24-hour security presence in both Ifon, Ilobu and Olokanla communities’ he submitted-Team@orientactualmags.com
