Ilorin Ritual Killing: Women Observing ‘Iddah’, Other Family Members Flee Abdulrahman Bello’s Family House

Ilorin Ritual Killing: Women Observing ‘Iddah’, Other Family Members Flee Abdulrahman Bello’s Family House

Abdulrahman Mohammed Bello, a young Islamic cleric, has been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Kwara State. He was said to have killed and dismembered the body of Lawal Hafsat Yetunde, a final year student at the Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin.

He had apparently planned to use the body parts as ingredients for money rituals soap,

Abdulrahman had reportedly met Hafsat on Facebook and after getting her phone number, they began to interact.

The deceased student was attending a naming ceremony on Monday, February 10, 2025, when Abdulrahman called her and after the phone conversation, she left and sadly, she never returned alive.

Her parents had reported at the Oja Oba Police Station, Ilorin that she had gone missing, and the police had used her phone number to get her last incoming call, which led them to Abdulrahman’s rented apartment in the Garage Offa area of Ilorin.

Abdulrahman had initially said he did not know Hafsat’s whereabouts but later submitted that she had an asthma attack and died.

Hafsat’s body parts kept inside a big bucket and the tools used to dismember her were later discovered in Abdulrahman’s apartment.

.Team@orientactualmags.com learned that people living in Abdulrahman’s family house near Mosalashi Idi- Isin , Isale Koto area of Ilorin, who had been living in fear since the story broke out, have fled and voluntarily stayed away from the place.

It was further gathered that Abdulrahman’s uncle, Alhaji Isiak Bello, who was the Imam of Mosalasi Idi-Isin, had died in December last year and his three wives are currently observing ‘iddah’ which is a waiting period that a Muslim woman observes after the death of her husband or after a divorce.

Iddah is expected to last for four months and ten days.

Mallam Isiak Bello’s wives have reportedly cut short the Iddah period and fled from the family house after being told that there was a possibility of a mob attack, while some had also said people may angrily set fire to the building.

‘Ki oju ma ribi ,gbogbo ara loogun e’ meaning in English ‘For the eyes not to see evil, the entire body is the antidote’.

Interestingly, Abdulrahman’s father, Alhaji Usman Bello had sought to emerge as his brother, Imam Isiak’s successor, unknown to him that his son was getting set to tarnish his reputation.

If he had succeeded in convincing the stakeholders to choose him, the Muslim community in the area would have begun to call for his removal now.

A new Imam had since been chosen outside the family. Alhaji Ayub was appointed as the new Imam of Mosalasi Idi-Isin two weeks ago-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
