Ilorin Shooting Incident: IGP Egbetokun Sends Delegation To AbdulYekeen Family, Offers Condolences…Promises Thorough Investigation

The Inspector General of Police, Mr. Kayode Egbetokun, has sent a delegation to the family of Qoyum Abdulyekeen ,who was until his passing last week, a student at the Kwara State Polytechnic, Ilorin.
Recall that Qoyum, a National Diploma (ND) 2 student at the Department of Electrical Engineering, Kwara state Polytechnic, Ilorin, was shot in the Agric axis of Ilorin on Wednesday evening. while he died in the hospital the following day.
Recall also that the Force Headquarters had on Monday disclosed the decision to take over investigation into the incident in order to ensure a detailed and comprehensive investigation while releasing the names of three cops who were allegedly involved in the killing of Qoyum.
Spokesperson for the state police command, Ejire-Adeyemi Toun, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday night noted that the delegation sent by the IGP which was led by Kwara state Commissioner of Police, Mr Victor Olaiya not only offered their condolences to the bereaved family but also gave an assurance that there will be justice and transparency in the case.


‘The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, CP Victor Olaiya psc(+), representing the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Qoyum Abdulyekeen Ishola today, September 10, 2024.
In his message, the CP expressed gratitude to the family for their cooperation during the investigation and delivered the IGP’s assurance that justice will be served.
The IGP has directed the Federal Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) to take over the investigation, with all officers involved getting transferred to Abuja for a thorough and impartial inquiry.
Speaking on behalf of the immediate family, Mr. Muselim Abdulyekeen, the father of the deceased student, alongside Mrs. Ramat Abdulyekeen, the mother, expressed their appreciation to the Inspector General of Police and the Kwara State Police Command for their continued support. They reiterated that they are hopeful that the ongoing investigation will lead to justice for their late son.
Alhaji Mohamed Kewugbemi, the family’s clergy, offered prayers and commended the police for their commitment to justice. Alhaji Erolalujana (Olori-Ebi) expressed his appreciation for the support given by the police during this difficult time.
The Rector of Kwara State Polytechnic, Engr. Dr. Abdul Jimoh Mohammed, was also present to show his solidarity with the family.
