Imo Goes Into ‘Shutdown’ As NLC Directs Workers To Cut Off Electricity, Fuel Supplies
The Organized Labour comprising the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC and the Trade Union Congress , TUC on Tuesday, directed workers to cut off electricity and fuel supplies to Imo state beginning from midnight, November 8, 2023.
This was sequel to the brutalization of the NLC National President , Mr Joe Ajaero, by cops in Imo state last week.
That was not all, the Labour unions have also directed aviation workers to ensure that flights into and outside the state are suspended.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that these decisions were taken during the extraordinary National Executive Council meeting summoned by the TUC and NUC on Tuesday afternoon.
‘The NEC-in-session orders the immediate withdrawal of services and shutdown of Imo state beginning from midnight today. All workers and affiliates are expected to ensure compliance from wherever they are. All flights into and out of Imo state, fuel supplies and Electricity should be stopped immediately as applicable. All Public and Private Sector workers are to immediately down tools indefinitely’ the NLC submitted in a communiqué issued at the end of the meeting.
