In Pictures: Gov Atiku Bagudu Signs 2023 Budget Into Law In Birni Kebbi
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi state has signed the fiscal budget 2023 of N166,985,075,110.21k billion into law.
Speaking during the budget signing ceremony in Birnin Kebbi on Thursday ,Bagudu recalled that the appropriation bill was presented to the State House of Assembly a few weeks ago.
‘I must appreciate and commend the efforts of the assembly particularly for passing this fiscal budget expeditiously.
I must also extol the commitment of the members of the assembly and commend them for showing concern about even socio-economic development of the state’ he said.
Bagudu ,who is the Chairman of the APC Governors’ Forum , also appreciated the sterling contributions of the Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, MDAS, NGOs and CSOs towards the preparation and speedy passage of the budget and the processes that preceded it .
He noted that the state has continued to record tremendous infrastructural development in the last seven years adding that more would be done in this direction.
Bagudu said Kebbi has been among the leading states in the World Bank -assisted SIFTAS programme up to 2021.
The state had also according to him garnered garlands from the World bank , submitting that these milestones would continue to be observed and sustained.
The governor was also elated that Kebbi State had turned its budget cycle to be between January to December.
He recalled that before now , budgets were often passed mid -year across the country and at the federal level.
”This is an achievement for APC and President Muhammadu Buhari as this has stabilized national development’ he said.
Bagudu urged the house of assembly to extend its usual support to the incoming administration, noting that the 2023 budget would be implemented by two administrations.
Earlier, the Speaker, Kebbi State House of Assembly, Abubakar Muhammad Lolo had told the Governor that the House passed the budget on Friday 22/12/2022.
‘ Today the members of the House of assembly are here to present the 2023 budget of 166,985,075,110.21k for your assent’ he said.
