Incoming Administration Must Take Necessary Steps To ‘Unify’ Nigeria- Obasanjo
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has submitted that the incoming administration must work to facilitate national moral rearmament and reconciliation and unify Nigeria sequel to the situation that obtained ahead of the 2023 general election which had Nigerians badly divided along religious and tribal lines.
This, he noted, will help to bring about healing and assuage Nigerian youths that were angered by the shortcomings of the elections.
It will be recalled that ahead of the presidential election held on February 25 2023, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo had in an open letter endorsed Mr Peter Obi’s candidacy.
Obi was the Labour Party presidential candidate.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had since declared Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, who was the APC presidential candidate, winner of the election.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Obasanjo said this while giving his speech during the Conference organized by Nextier and the Ibadan School of Governance and Public Policy in Abuja, which had as its theme, ‘From Elections to Governance and Performance’.
He added that governance in Nigeria now requires thinking outside the box, to rescue the nation, cognizant of its poor economy and huge national debt burden, noting that there must also be the political will and action, as well as administrative efforts, to reform the public service, and turn it into a capability-ready unit.
Obasanjo noted that in light of the challenges facing the country, he was now ‘too old to keep quiet’, adding that he would continue to voice his concerns for the benefit of the nation -Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
