Independence Day Speech: President Tinubu Praises Gov Nasir’s Efforts To Strengthen Food Security, Agricultural Devt In Kebbi

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Tuesday commended Kebbi State governor, Comrade Dr.Nasir Idris, the  Kauran Gwandu and some other governors in the country for keenly embracing the Federal Government’s agricultural production programmes and for showing interest in commercial farming.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com  by the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki quoted President Tinubu as saying this in his Independence Day speech on Tuesday.

‘I commend the governors particularly, in Kebbi, Niger, Jigawa, Kwara, Nasarawa, and the Southwest governors that have embraced our agricultural production programme.

I urge other states to join the Federal Government in investing in mechanized farming. 

We are playing our part by supplying fertilizer and making tractors and other farm equipment available.

 Last week, the Federal Executive Council approved the establishment of a local assembly plant for 2,000 John Deere tractors, combine harvesters, disc riders, bottom ploughs and other farm equipment.

The plant has a completion time of six months’ the president said.

‘We can happily recall that Governor Idris has been giving top priority to the agricultural sector since he came into office.

His unwavering commitment to the sector has been shown through the huge investments in the sector with a view to shoring up food production.
