Indonesia: Police Launch Probe Into Death Of Journalist, Wife, 2 Children In Fire Incident
The police have launched probe into the death of a journalist , Rico Sempurna Pasaribu , his wife and two children in a fire incident at his residence in Kabanjahe.
40-year-old Rico Sempurna Pasaribu was said to have recently published stories on illegal gambling and the Journalists Safety Committee had alleged that it was a suspected arson and called for investigation into the incident.
Kabanjahe is the largest centre and the seat of the government of Karo Regency
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the fire incident at Rico Sempurna Pasaribu’s residence occurred about , a week ago.
His wife, a 12-year-old child, and a three-year-old grandchild also lost their lives in the fire incident.
‘Police are working based on facts on the ground, not based on opinions and assumptions. We are paying special attention to this case’’ Spokesman for North Sumatra police, Hadi Wahyudi, told AFP.
The Journalists Safety Committee had said the fire incident may have been related to Pasaribu’s reports on local gambling allegedly organized by a member of the military.
