INEC Chairman Appoints Adedayo Oketola As Media Aide
Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, has appointed Mr Adedayo Oketola, as his Chief Press Secretary.
Mr Oketola, an experienced journalist, once served as Editor of The PUNCH Newspaper.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Mr Oketola’s appointment was announced in a daily bulletin released on Monday by INEC’s Editor-in-Chief and Director of Voter Education and Publicity, Victoria Eta-Messi.
The letter of appointment made available to Mr Oketola was signed by the Secretary to the electoral body, Rose Oriaran-Anthony and dated Friday, October 24, 2025.
The new CPS was described as a ‘multi-award-winning journalist with nearly two decades of experience’ who has gotten recognized for his ‘inclusive reporting and journalistic excellence’.
‘The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Joash Amupitan SAN, has approved the appointment of Mr. Adedayo Eriye Oketola as his Chief Press Secretary.
The appointment was officially conveyed in a letter signed by the Secretary to the Commission, Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony, dated Friday, 24th October 2025’ Victoria submitted in the bulletin while noting that Oketola has been urged to discharge his duties with professionalism and uphold the values of transparency and integrity that define the electoral body.
Mr Oketola at different times served as News Editor, and Business Editor of The PUNCH and he was also an Assistant Editor of News and Politics for Saturday PUNCH.
