If elected as governor next year, Kwara state PDP gubernatorial candidate, Alhaji Shuaib Abdulahi Yaman will build on past achievements to provide funding sources for public infrastructure projects, his Special Adviser on Media, Alhaji Wahab Oba submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Friday.
‘ A Yaman/Makanjuola administration will revive and re-invigorate the abandoned innovative funding approach for capital projects, Infrastructure Fund, Kwara (IF-K), which is a growing concern phenomenon, institutionalized by the immediate past administration. IF-K, if well -managed, could have saved us from the meaningless and unnecessary borrowings that have now plunged the State into the debt trap.
We shall revitalize the Kwara State Internal Revenue Service (KW-IRS) back to the trajectory of growth and funding of the IF-K that the previous administration, not only desired for it through its revenue reform agenda but made it to be the best-institutionalized funding arrangements in the country then. Its truncated values shall be revived to get it back on track for excellence and growth for the development of our state.
A Yaman/Makanjuola administration will upscale our internal revenue-generating mechanism to reinforce the blocking of leakages and improve services through continued training and adequate incentives for those involved in the collection process to return to the performance-driven era.
Sustainable infrastructure development means more jobs and economic growth for the state. Robust business growth in the state also means more revenues for the state. So, we shall not shy away from making our state business ready and friendly to investors.
In this wise, the Kwara Private Public Partnership, KP3, a one-stop office for private investors’ collaboration will be resuscitated to ensure an easy and friendly environment and policies for investment.
