IPOB Sit-At-Home Order: Gov Soludo Orders Closure Of Onitsha Market To Punish Traders
The governor of Anambra State, Professor Chukwuma Soludo has ordered the closure of Onitsha Main Market for one week following the failure of traders to defy the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) sit-at-home order and follow the directive of the state government to go about their business.
The sit-at-home order was a directive issued since 2021 directing residents of southeast to stay indoors on Mondays to protest the detention of their leader, Mr Nnamdi Kanu and this is often enforced by violence
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Soludo ordered that the market should be shut down on Monday when he visited the place along with some of his aides and other government officials.
That was not all, he has threatened to extend the closure if the traders fail to comply with the directive not to obey the sit-at-home order submitting that security agencies have sealed up the market to enforce the order.
‘The government cannot stand by while a few individuals willfully undermine public safety and disregard official directives meant to restore normalcy. This is plain economic sabotage.
We are not going to allow this. The closure is a protective measure for law-abiding citizens. You either decide that you are going to trade here or you go elsewhere. I am very serious about this’ the governor added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us? Do you want us to cover your event or programme?
