Islamic Cleric Killed In Kwara As Family Alleges ‘Spiritual Attack’ In Relative’s Death…4 Arrested
The police have confirmed the death of an Islamic cleric, Alhaji Abdulahi Audu who was attacked and killed by family members of Ibrahim Gana, a 25-year-old man, who died after feeling unwell and getting hospitalized.
The late Abdulahi Audu and Ibrahim Gana were both residents of Sokunkpan Village, Tsaragi, Edu local government, Kwara State.
Ibrahim’s family members had alleged ‘spiritual attack’ and reportedly attacked Alhaji Abdulahi Audu, who was until his death, the Chief Imam of the village.
Spokesperson for the Kwara State Police Command, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement she issued in Ilorin on Thursday and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com not only condemned the incident that happened in Sokunkpan Village but also disclosed that four people have been arrested in connection with the death of the Chief Imam.
’The Kwara State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of a tragic incident of culpable homicide that occurred in Tsaragi, Edu LGA of the State.
On November 4, 2025, at about 9:30 p.m., one Ibrahim Gana ‘M’ aged 25 years, a resident of Sokunkpan Village in Tsaragi, who had been ill and was hospitalized, sadly passed away. Following his death, his brothers; Mohammed Shaba and Mahmud Gana accused the Chief Imam of the village, Alh Abdullahi Audu, of being responsible for the young man’s demise.
In an act of mob violence, Muhammad Shaaba and Mahmud Gana allegedly mobilized several other individuals and attacked the Chief Imam with offensive weapons, leading to his death.
Cops swiftly commenced an investigation into the incident, 4 suspects have been arrested with efforts ongoing to arrest other individuals that had their names mentioned in connection with the incident.
CP Adekimi Ojo, psc, mnips, further warned against resorting to jungle justice or taking the law into one’s own hands, emphasizing that such actions are criminal and punishable under the law. He urged the public to promptly report any suspicious activity to the nearest Police formation or via the command’s designated channels while reassuring all residents of his unwavering dedication to maintaining peace, safety, and order across the state.
