Islamic Cleric, Son Abducted By Gunmen In Kwara
Gunmen on Saturday attacked an Islamic cleric, Alfa Sofiu Amolegbe and his two sons; Aliyu and Fasasi in Oko-Olowo, a suburb of Ilorin, the Kwara state capital.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that while Fasasi sustained gunshot wounds and currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital, Aliyu and Alfa Sofiu Amolegbe were taken away by the gunmen.
It was gathered that the kidnappers had cut the window bars to gain access to the Livingroom at Amolegbe’s residence and abducted the Islamic cleric and his two sons..
They had later opened fire on Fasasi, who had tried to escape, and he was left for dead.
Confirming the incident, the father of the victims, Imam Amolegbe of Dada, Okelele area, Ilorin disclosed that the kidnappers had since contacted the family and demanded N100m as ransom.
‘The kidnappers have contacted us and they are asking for N100m ransom. We have begged them to accept N10m from us, even though we don’t have the money.
I am appealing to the state government and public-spirited people to assist us in getting my two sons and grandson out of the kidnappers’ den’ the cleric said.
Spokesman for Kwara state Police Command, Okasanmi Ajayi, a Superintendent of Police, who confirmed the Oko-Olowo abduction, added that two suspects had since been arrested in connection with the matter.
‘The Command is already investigating the matter. Effort is also at an advanced stage to get the victims rescued. Two suspects had already been arrested by the police, please’ he noted- Team@orientactualmags.com
