Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, who made the match between Kwara United and Kano Pillars a free entry for football enthusiasts in Kwara State on Sunday, February 15, 2026, has disclosed that he has had a deep love for Kwara United FC since his childhood adding that he is not really a fan of any European team.
Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi, a member of the Board of TETFUND where he represents the North Central geopolitical zone, was at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Innih Stadium, Ilorin on Sunday and he told Team@orientactualmags.com that he is optimistic about Kwara United FC being in a strong position.
‘Ever since we were young, we used to go to the stadium from Ilorin Grammar School, and watched matches through holes because we did not have money to pay for tickets.
In those days, when it was about 30 minutes left in the game, they would open the gates for us to watch the last few minutes and we would see the Mighty Jets in action.
Since then, Kwara United has been the only football club I have truly loved and supported. Unlike many Nigerians, I am not a fan of any European team.
As for me, I do not support Arsenal or Barcelona; none of them matters to me.
The only thing that matters to me is Kwara United FC. We need to get behind them and support them. We know we are at the bottom of the league right now, but with good support, we will surely rise again, like the phoenix, as they say.
I know there have been a lot of injuries, and some players’ aspirations were not met because we were expected to play in continental competitions this year.
We lost many of them, and we cannot blame them for that.
However, with whatever we have left, we will continue to march forward and do our very best’ he said.
Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi also asserted that the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq administration has done creditably well in the sports sector.
‘Many people do not know that His Excellency played Academicals football way back. His Excellency loves football; he played and truly enjoyed it.
In fact, he loves every sport, even table tennis. If you see him play table tennis, you will know that he genuinely loves sports.
That is why the investments His Excellency has made in sports sector in Kwara State, both in infrastructure and human capital development are quite significant.
He also cleared all the outstanding wages and allowances that his administration inherited.
Sports matter a lot to him, and that is why many of our youths are conquering not only nationally but globally, returning home with medals.
His Excellency loves sports and he is intentional about it because it builds our brand in Kwara and also develops young people.
