
Jigawa state Government has announced free healthcare for hypertension, diabetes and sickle cell patients in the state.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state Commissioner for Information, Youth, Sport and Culture, Mr Sagir Musa, made this known in a statement he issued in Dutse, the state capital, on Friday.
He disclosed that this decision was taken during the State Executive Council meeting that was held on Thursday noting that the Free Maternal Neonatal and Child Healthcare scheme will allow hypertension, diabetes and sickle cell patients to have access to free health care at public health facilities in the 27 Local governments in the state.
He also said the council has approved the disbursement of N179.2 million as Direct Facility Financing to the accredited Primary Healthcare Centers while also approving an additional 17 PHCs across the 281 political wards in the state for the first and second quarters of 2024 by the National Primary Health Care Development Agency.
The commissioner added that N69.1 million was also approved for the payment of monthly stipends for 79 Midwives and Community Influencers, Promoters and Services (CHIPS Agents).
A work plan for the implementation of Immunization Plus and Malaria Progress by Accelerating Coverage and Transforming Services Project which was presented by the Ministry of Health, has also been approved.
