Journalists Reportedly Denied Entry To Parliament Chamber As Gov Lawal Delivers Budget Speech In Zamfara

Journalists were reportedly stopped from covering the activities of Governor Dauda Lawal at the Zamfara State House of Assembly, Gusau on Thursday.
The governor was there to deliver his budget speech for the fiscal year 2025.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the journalists, who had arrived at the Assembly complex as early as 9 am, were reportedly ordered to leave the premises by security agents’ sequel to the governor’s arrival at the place.
They were reportedly denied entry to the ‘parliament chamber’ and asked to leave the assembly complex.
‘Please take it easy. I know how you feel, but I assure you that we will look into the issue’ the governor’s media aide, Sulaiman Bala Idris, who had reportedly tried unsuccessfully to caution the security agents, was said to have told the journalists.
It was learned that only Channels Television and TVC reporters were allowed to cover the event.
It was however alleged that this was done to save the governor’s face because quorum was not met.
‘Blocking journalists was a deliberate decision because only a few members were present in the chamber, and they did not meet the quorum required to officially receive the governor for the budget presentation’ a source in the house of assembly reportedly submitted.
