Jubilation In Birni Kebbi As Tribunal Affirms Gov Nasiru Idris’ Victory
The Kebbi state Election Petition Tribunal has upheld the victory of Comrade, Dr. Nasiru Idris and the Deputy Governor, former Senator Umar Abubakar in the governorship election held in the state on March 18, 2023.
Chairman of the three-member panel, Justice Ofem in the ruling delivered on Thursday dismissed the petition filed by the PDP candidate, Aminu Bande for woefully failing to prove the allegations he had raised to question the victory of the governor and his deputy in the gubernatorial election in question.
The allegations that the deputy governor, Umar Abubakar was not qualified to contest the election because he had presented a forge testimonial, was dismissed by the Tribunal and described as lacking in merit.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yahaya Sarki in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday said residents of Birni Kebbi reacted to the affirmation of Comrade , Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu’s victory by pouring into the streets to celebrate and jubilate.
‘Hundreds of people and party supporters thronged Government House Birnin Kebbi, jubilating following the affirmation of Comrade ,Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu’s victory by the Election Petition Tribunal with regard to the Governorship election held in the state in March and April ,2023 ’ he said.
Addressing the jubilant crowd at the Government House Birnin Kebbi, Governor Nasir Idris praised God for the victory, describing the verdict of the tribunal as a victory not only for the people of Kebbi state, but also for democracy as destined by God through the popular will of people.
‘From the verdict of the Tribunal, we can see that power belongs to God and only God can give it to whom He wants ,where He wants .
Secondly , it has shown that people has voted for us and we must redouble our efforts to serve people with fear of God’ he said.
Governor Nasir Idris also told the crowd of supporters and well-wishers that with the victory at the tribunal, the journey to make Kebbi state greater and better continues.
He restated his earlier promise to fulfill all his campaign promises and his desire to make Birnin Kebbi, a befitting State Capital city and the pride of Kebbi people.
The governor also said his administration would not relent in carrying out developmental projects such as road construction, completion of State Secretariat at Gwadangaji while also revolutionizing the health and education in the state.
‘Agriculture as the pride of the state as well as security would continue to receive the attention of Government to secure their lives and property.
The governor also extended his hand of friendship to the opposition urging them to join him to move Kebbi state forward’ the statement said.
The National Organizing Secretary of APC, Alhaji Suleiman Muhammad Argungu, who spoke on behalf of the National Chairman of the Party, submitted in his goodwill message that the verdict of the tribunal has confirmed and affirmed the mandate given to Governor Nasir Idris to steer the affairs of the state.
