Kankan LGEA School:  Kwara PDP Backs BBC Up , Demands Detailed Information On UBEC Counterpart Funds Received Since 2014

Sequel to  the release of a documentary highlighting the deplorable state of education in Kankan LGEA School, Asa local government,  Kwara state , the state PDP  on Friday accused  the  AbdulRahman  Abdulrazaq administration of  intimidating  the management  team of the BBC.

‘The revelations in the BBC documentary uncovered almost five years of rot, corruption, scandalous thefts and gross mismanagement of public funds in the education sector and the other sectors ’ , the state Publicity Secretary ,   Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara submitted in a statement he issued in Ilorin and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Friday.

The party accused Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of allegedly  accessing UBEC counterpart  funds meant for eight years (2014-2021), without telling Kwarans how much the government has received and how the funds have been appropriated and utilized .

‘Our party , like every other concerned Kwaran , is highly disturbed that despite several claims in the  media  that  the government has invested over N14.2billion in basic schools across the state since 2020, Kankan LGEA School, just like many basic schools infrastructures are coming to deflate these propaganda and frauds plaguing our education system in Kwara.

We therefore demand publication of  the amount of billions accessed from UBEC as counterpart funds for the year 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017…..2021 and how these funds have been appropriated, this is for public scrutiny, and the Kwara people, on whose behalf these huge funds were accessed deserve to know how they are utilized’ the party said.

PDP also asserted that whilst in control of the  state, the education sector and other sectors had it good.

‘While our party applauds the Commissioner of Communications, Bunmi Olukoju, for public admission of failure when she noted that the Abdulrazaq administration still grapples with burden of fixing most of basic things since 2019, we condemn attempts to put the blame on the PDP administration which left Kwara state as an outstanding performer in basic education and other sectors.

If the commissioner could admit that the Abdulrazaq government cannot complete all basic school projects within 8 years, what  moral justification does she have to expect PDP administration to have finished everything in the state before 2019 despite paucity of fund? the party asked.

‘We commend the BBC correspondents for their courage in exposing this systemic fraud and call on other media houses to pursue investigative reporting that will  hold the government accountable to the people.

Rather than blaming the PDP for its failures, the APC government should focus on being remorseful and apologizing to Kwarans for deceiving them with false propaganda since 2019’ the statement added-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
