All the operating certificates issued to private schools in Kano state by the state government have been revoked.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Governor Abba Yusuf’s Special Adviser on private and voluntary institutions, Alhaji Baba Abubakar Umar announced this decision on Saturday during the meeting held with proprietors of private schools in the state.
Private schools in the state have been asked to go through new registration process to revalidate their certificates.
Umar restated the state government’s commitment to sanitizing the private schools operations and ensuring adherence to established laws and guidelines.
He also noted that no one will be victimized while appropriate measures would be taken against any private school that is found wanting.
He disclosed that a software has been developed which will address and protect the interests of the government, school proprietors, parents and those seeking to teach in private schools.
Chairman, National Association of Private Schools Owners, Kano state chapter, Alhaji Muhammad Malam Adamu, who spoke on behalf of the school proprietors, described the step taken by the state government as fantastic and commendable noting that this will further boost the education sector in the state.
Baba Umar also disclosed on Sunday that the state government has begun issuance of application forms to private schools in the state following the revocation of their operating certificates.
‘The state government has begun issuance of application forms to private schools in the state which will end on Friday, August 18th, 2023.
The essence of the new registration is to ensure that we have an accurate database for government policy and monitoring to sanitize the sector’ he said.
Private schools in the state have also been warned against increasing school fees while also getting ordered to suspend sales of books and uniforms-Team@orientactualmags.com
