Kebbi 10th Assembly: Muhammad Usman Elected Speaker
Members -elect gathered for the first day of the 10th Kebbi state House of Assembly in Birni Kebbi , the state capital, on Thursday.
Governor Nasiru Idris’ media aide, Mr. Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that the activities began with the reading of the proclamation of Governor Idris convening the parliament by the Clerk of the house of assembly , Suleman Shamaki .
‘ There is a provision in section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution of federal republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended .
That the person elected as the governor shall have the power to issue proclamation to the State House of Assembly immediately after he is sworn in’ he submitted while quoting the governor’s letter to this effect .
‘Now therefore, I, Comrade Dr Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu executive Governor of Kebbi State in the exercise of the power vested upon me by section 105 sub section 3 of the constitution, hereby proclaim that the first session of the 10th Assembly shall hold at the assembly chamber , Birnin Kebbi on 8th Day of June, 2023 by 11:00 am’.
The Clerk also raised the issue of financial autonomy of the House, noting that this has been resolved and only left for the legislature and the executive to liaise for implementation.
Hon . Muhammad Usman, Ankwai Zuru from Zuru state constituency was elected as Speaker after getting nominated by Hon. Adamu Muhammad Birnin Yauri while the nomination was seconded by Hon Muhammad K.K Augie.
Muhammad Samaila from Bagudo state constituency was also elected as Deputy Speaker.
