Kebbi Gov Cautions Religious Leaders Against Desecration Of Pulpits Coz Of Political Partisanship

Kebbi state governor, Comrade, Dr. Nasir Idris, has condemned the idea of  having some religious leaders and clerics hiding under the garb of religion to advance political and selfish interests.

The governor has submitted that such a behaviour is contrary to divine Injunctions.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com   by  the governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr. Yahaya Sarki  noted that he (Governor Idris) said this  on Thursday  during the Emir of Gwandu’s sallah visit to the Government House, Birnin Kebbi.

The Gwandu monarch was represented by the Waziri Gwandu, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar,

The governor said ‘It is glaring that some Ulamas mount the pulpit or use Tafsir sessions to castigate leaders and cast aspersions on their persons for smear campaign or self- fulfillment,  I am also not immune from such acts’  the governor complained.

He also submitted that such an  unholy attitude must cease  in order to safeguard the sanctity of religion and protect the dignity of leaders.

The Ulamas, he emphasized should uphold their value as moulders of good character and morality devoid of soiling faith with personal aggrandizement.

Governor Nasir Idris, who is the Kauran Gwandu, acknowledged the support and cooperation of the Gwandu Emirate Council led by the monarch, Alhaji Muhammadu Iliyasu Bashar for his administration, urging traditional institutions to sustain prayers for peace and prosperity of the land.

The veteran labour leader expressed happiness about the resuscitation of the  Durbar festival by the Emir in this year’s Eid-el Fitr celebration saying it is an honour to him.

‘For a long time,  the durbar festival  has not been held by the Gwandu Emirate Council until now that I am the governor of the state, and this is the first time I will celebrate the Eid-el Fitr as a sitting Chief Executive, I am highly impressed about the colourful event’ he remarked.

Governor Nasir Idris affirmed commitment to intensifying his reform policy of economic growth and infrastructural development of Kebbi state.

The Waziri of Gwandu, Alhaji Abdullahi Umar ,who represented the Emir , told the governor that he was at the Government House,  in company  of Councilors of the Emirate Council, traditional title holders, District Heads and the Ulamas, to congratulate the governor on the successful completion of the fasting period and the celebration of the Eid-el Fitr in peace and tranquility.

He affirmed their support, loyalty and obedience to the governor and his administration, commending him for the remarkable achievements recorded in transforming Kebbi state, especially the capital Birnin Kebbi, to a modern city worthy of its status.

He called on  the people  of the state to support Governor Nasir Idris in his quest to develop the state, saying that all hands must be on deck to complement the efforts of the governor.

Before the homage, the Emir of Gwandu and Chairman, Kebbi State Council of Chiefs, Alhaji Muuhammadu Iliyasu Bashar, had led an enchanting durbar procession which passed along the inner front gate of the Government House, and was watched in admiration by Governor Nasir Idris, his deputy, former Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida, the Head of Service, Commissioners and other top government officials who stood at  the Government House gates.

The white royal horse of the monarch was on display while the Emir rode in his royal limousine and exchanged pleasantries with the governor in the course of the procession-Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
